The unknown specimen has the ability to manipulate the floors and walls of it's specialised room as it so wishes. I hadn't hit that conclusion until I felt a sharp pain pierce through my side; just above my hip. Out of reflex, I let out a pained gasp and looked down at the large, needle-like structure penetrating my body - and that is when it hit me.
I immediately scrambed away, clutching onto my waist as I scowl and reach behind me, pulling out my trusty shotgun that's been with me through plenty of unpleasant missions. The sight of the punk catches my eye for a moment, before I look away again to focus. Although her expression imprints on my mind.
She was looking at my wound; her eyes betraying her unbothered façade that she was applying by not acknowledging it. In all truthfulness, I'd never seen such emotion on her face. She looked almost shameful.
As my eyes scan across the room, I groan frustratedly at the disappearance of the creature. It must've merged itself back into the surfaces of this hall, ready to spring out at any moment. And when it does, I'll be ready.
I alert Y/N of our predicament, and she nods in determination whilst catching my pistol that I tossed to her. And with that, we stand in the centre of the room; back to back, fully focused.
This is a waiting game, and I've got all the damn time in the world.
It begins small; testing the waters, I'd assume. One merges from the wall - horizontally - and is immediately shot by me. But then it steadily increases. More and more emerge at once, and there seems to be no stopping them as they fall from the ceiling, climb from the floor (or the depths of hell), and spawn from every surviving piece of flesh.
But, what I do notice is every time a being is created, one of the eyeballs from the meaty surface covering is taken. Meaning that they need these organs to be able to become a living organism... which therefore means that everytime one of us destroys said organ, that's one less thing that can be created.
It's just difficult to kill them all at this speed. I'm becoming gradually lower on ammo, and-
"I'm out." She huffs, pulling away from my back and smashing an enemy's 'eyeball face' to a slimy pulp on the floor instead. As it decomposes, the raw flesh wraps around her ankles and traps her to the spot. She got too close, clearly.
I toss her my trusty dagger, allowing her to attempt an escape as I guard the two of us. She works away at her feet as I use up the last of my ammunition, cursing under my breath as my final bullet is gone. I run up to the final standing one of the moment, roundhouse kicking it's head clean off it's shoulders. I step away before it can trap me.
I then pace around the room swiftly, jamming my knuckles roughly into the little gooey balls stuck around the room. There's very few left, and I turn back around to Y/N, dusting herself off and handing me back my melee weapon.
"Now what? Go home?" She asks, and I respond with a simple nod. Looking around, the door is nowhere to be seen. So we carve our own, and climb out the window in the next room.
I jump out of the second story window, cathing her with ease. As we traverse the eerie streets once again, I notice a figure sprinting towards me.
My first instinct was to pull out my knife, but as it approached closer and closer, I recognised the silhouette as none other than the Chris Redfield... what the hell does he want?
He stops infront of me, placing a firm hand on my shoulder.
"Don't worry, we tracked your location and have everything else covered. Care to explain the situation, Agent Kennedy?"I sigh exhaustedly, wiping his hand away from my body.
"Just destroy the eyeballs. It's all you've gotta do."He shrugs. "This city is abandoned. We'll probably end out destroying half or all of it anyway."
