felix spent the next week learning how to navigate parenthood alone with hyunjin, all while feeling uneasy and very sleep deprived.

it definitely was harder than he'd imagine without the nurses around to help out, especially when neither of them really knew how to have a newborn in the care of their own hands day and night.

felix and hyunjin were woken up by the soft, fragile cries coming from baby siwoo's crib. felix got up as quickly as his recovering body allowed him to, "i'll get him, go back to sleep jinnie."

"are you sure?"

"yes, you got him before, i'll do it," felix gave him a quick smile before going to attend to their son before his cries could get any louder and wake up the whole dorm.

hyunjin turned on the very dimly lit lamp before sitting up, watching felix in case he needed him for any reason.

"hi baby, what's wrong?" felix gently picked up the crying baby, gently shushing him while softly patting his back to sooth him.

the newborn kept crying as felix padded over to the changing table, "maybe you need a diaper change? is that it, siwoo?"

"there, all better?" felix changed him into a fresh diaper and back into his warm onesie, holding him up carefully after swaddling him to press a kiss onto his tiny nose.

baby siwoo's cries had settled down while felix changed him, only letting out small whimpers before they picked up again when felix placed him back in his crib, tiny face scrunched up and red as he cried out.

"woonie, i'm here baby," felix picked him up just as hyunjin walked over to them, placing his hand on felix's lower back.

"maybe he's hungry, lixie?" hyunjin reached out for the baby, "i'll hold him while you get comfortable."

felix nodded as he placed siwoo into hyunjin's arms, the taller boy immediately went into dad mode as he tried to sooth his son.

after felix got comfortable on the bed with baby siwoo's nursing pillow ready, hyunjin handed him over to felix after removing his swaddle, his hands flailing around.

felix brought him closer to his aching chest, offering him his nipple to latch onto, which he immediately did. felix closed his eyes as he let out a deep breath, siwoo's post-cry shaky breaths could be heard in the silence as he suckled away.

hyunjin wrapped his arm around felix's shoulders, gently carding his fingers though his soft hair, "what's wrong, angel?"

"i feel so bad when he cries," the shorter boy cupped his sons head, kissing his forehead softly.

"hey, look at me," hyunjin's large hand caressed felix's cheek, "it's a learning experience. we're first time parents and he's just a tiny baby who can't communicate with words yet. you're doing great, my love."

"it doesn't feel like it," felix tore his glossy eyes away from hyunjin's, bring his lips down again to kiss the top of siwoo's head.

"don't downplay yourself, lixie," hyunjin kissed his temple, "you're an amazing mother! siwoo loves you so much, just look at how happy he is to be so close to you and be fed yummy milk?"

they both looked down at said baby, who had his eyes closed, little sweet sounds coming from him as his small hands pressed against felix's chest.

"he's happy and healthy," hyunjin spoke softly and knew just what to say to felix to make his doubts go away.

"yeah," felix finally smiled, "he is, isn't he?"

hyunjin hummed as he gently stroked his sleepy son's head, hair as soft as silk, "he's such a good baby. doesn't cry too loud yet either."

"hopefully it stays that way, his little cries make me so emotional," the parents share a soft giggle as to not wake up the sleeping newborn.

siwoo's lips detached from felix's nipple, a bit of milk dripped down to the side of his mouth.

felix handed baby siwoo over to hyunjin to burp him - he already had a rag on his hand in case of any spit up - and fixed his top before looking at the two.

"oh my gosh!" felix scrambled to grab his phone, "hyune! i think he's smiling!"

he quickly snapped a picture, turning his wrist to show hyunjin the picture.

hyunjin's finger pressed down into the live picture, and sure enough, there it showed the tiny baby sat up on his butt, hyunjin's hand supporting his head on his little chin as he patted his back gently with the other, his face held a smile for about five seconds before falling back to a normal, sleepy state.

"we made such a cute baby," hyunjin passed the phone back to felix, hand moving back to support siwoo on his arm comfortably.

"maybe one day we'll have more cute babies," felix bit his lip as his eyes met hyunjin's hopeful ones, "he won't stay small forever."

hyunjin got up and placed the sleeping baby back in the crib and swaddled him.

"let's just enjoy the time we have with siwoo," hyunjin hooked his chin over felix's shoulder as they laid back into bed, "we'll come back to this conversation in a few years when we're ready for another."

"yeah," felix said softly as he pressed back closer into hyunjin's chest, eyes closing, "goodnight, hyune, i love you."

"i love you more, angel."
