Two weeks had passed since that night. Two weeks of silence. Two weeks of pretending
Jungkook had stopped coming to the apartment altogether. Even when he had late shifts, he never set foot inside again. And as if that wasn't enough, he had also removed all the surveillance cameras without a word. It was almost as if he was severing every last connection between us, desperately trying to bury the feelings he had, forcing himself to forget
But both he and I knew it wouldn't work
I lay on my bed, staring blankly at the snow-covered balcony. The world outside was draped in white, quiet and peaceful, such a stark contrast to the chaos inside me
A deep sigh left my lips. Exhaustion weighed on me, though I had done nothing but exist these past few days. My routine had become monotonous, sleep, wake up, cook, eat, and sleep again. Over and over
Just as I was about to throw a childish tantrum at my own misery, the sound of the front door opening and closing snapped me out of my thoughts
I frowned 'Jungkook?' I had convinced myself he wouldn't return, but here he was
Quickly, I turned to my side and switched off the lights, pretending to be asleep. I wasn't ready for a confrontation. Not now. Not when everything between us had already unraveled into something unrecognisable
Moments passed. The bedroom door creaked open, but I kept still, controlling my breathing. But then, a hand slid onto my inner thigh
A sharp chill shot down my spine. It wasn't Jungkook. He never touched me there
Panic surged through me as I bolted upright, eyes wide with alarm. Though the room was dark, I could make out the shadowy figure standing by my bed
It wasn't him
It was his... father
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?" I shouted, my voice breaking through the silence
"Oh, oh, calm down" he said smoothly, raising his hands as if to pacify me
He took a step closer, but I shoved him away
He sighed in frustration but didn't back off. Instead, he reached for me again "I won't do anything. I just came to see you" His voice was calm, almost coaxing, but laced with something sinister underneath
"Like hell, I believe you!" I snapped, reaching for the bedside lamp and flicking it on. Light flooded the room, exposing his expression, his eyes dark with something I didn't want to name "You think I don't know your intentions?"
He scoffed "Come on, young lady, don't be dramatic. I have no bad intentions"
I let out a sharp, humorless laugh "If that's the case, why don't we call your son right now? Tell him where you are. Tell him how you just touched his wife's thigh in the middle of night. Let's see how he reacts"
His smirk didn't waver "Fine. You caught me" he admitted shamelessly "But what can you do? Do you really think my son would believe you over me?"
That made my blood boil but I stayed calm "Of course not! Why would he? You've turned him into your puppet, haven't you?"
"Correct!" he laughed, a sickeningly pleased glint in his eyes "That stupid boy is nothing but a key to my success. But I have to admit, you're quite sharp, little girl. He doesn't deserve you"
I rolled my eyes at his mocking tone "And I don't deserve this conversation"
But he took a step closer again, his voice dropping into something low and coaxing "Don't be so feisty. You and I both know Jungkook doesn't give you what you need. But I can. I can give you the whole world if you just spend tonight with me"
