Chapter Ten

"Another tiring day" I muttered, rolling my stiff shoulders as I made my way toward the school exit. Just as I stepped outside, my phone vibrated violently in my pocket, snapping me out of my exhaustion

I pulled it out and glanced at the caller ID. My brows furrowed in surprise as I saw, Eun-Jun?

Well that was unexpected but I answered it anyway

"Hello?" I spoke first, my voice laced with confusion

"Y/N, come home. Now" his voice came through, urgent yet oddly excited

"What? Why?"

"Appa's awake! He's finally awake, Y/N"

My breath hitched. The world around me blurred, the noises of students chattering and cars honking fading into the background as my mind rang with only one thought... 'Appa... was awake'

"I-I'm coming!" I choked out ,quickly ending the call

Without wasting a second, I sprinted toward my car, my heart hammering against my ribs. My hands trembled as I reached for the door handle, but before I could climb inside, my phone buzzed again, this time Jungkook

I ignored it. Whatever he wanted, it could wait, but right now nothing mattered more than seeing my father

"Take me Lee mansion. Fast" I ordered, slipping into the passenger seat

But instead of complying, my driver hesitated "I'm sorry, Young Mrs. Jeon, but I can't take you there"

I frowned "Why not?"

Just then, Jungkook's name flashed on my phone screen again. I silenced the call, focusing instead on the driver's answer

"I have orders from Mrs. Jeon to drive you straight to the Jeon mansion"

I scoffed, crossing my arms "And I'm ordering you to take me home. Right now" My tone was cold, my patience wearing thin

But the driver remained firm "I apologize, but I can't disobey the orders given to me"

My fingers curled into fists "Fine. I'll go by myself!" I snapped, shoving the car door open

The driver called after me, but I ignored him, just as I ignored Jungkook's relentless calls. My hands shook slightly as I hailed the next bus, the adrenaline in my veins making it hard to stay still

I needed to see my father asap

The moment I reached the mansion, I bolted up the stairs, barely registering the greetings from the household staff. My feet skidded to a stop at my father's bedroom door. I swallowed hard before pushing it open

And there he was

Sitting up in bed, his frail frame propped against the pillows. His face was aged from years of slumber, but his eyes, those familiar, loving eyes were the same

Tears instantly welled up "Appa!"

His gaze lifted in surprise, and before he could react, I climbed onto the bed, wrapping my arms around him with all the strength I had

"Y-Y/N?" His voice was hoarse, uncertain

"Yes, Appa, it's me" I whispered against his shoulder, holding him tighter

He let out a shaky breath "Oh my god... my little princess has grown so beautifully" His voice held so much pride that my chest ached

"Appa, I missed you" I choked, my tears finally slipping free

"I missed you too, princess... I'm sorry for waking up so late"

I shook my head frantically "No, no... I'm the one who should be sorry. If I had been more careful back then, you wouldn't have—"
