Chase and Skye stood with their backs facing each other. "Do you see them?" Chase asked.

"No," Skye replied. They looked around attentively, looking for any sign of Vivianne and Butcher.

Vivianne appeared out of the shadow and ran towards Skye. She grabbed Skye and threw her against the wall. Skye yelped in pain as her back hit the concrete. Chase quickly turned around and noticed Vivianne over Skye.

"Skye!" Chase yelled. He reached for Vivianne, but she disappeared into the shadows before Chase could reach her. Chase grabbed Skye's hand and moved her away from the wall. "Come on, we need to get out of this hallway."

Skye and Chase ran out of the corridor and entered the open floor. They stopped about thirty feet from a group of thieves eating pizza. Vivianne and Butcher appeared at the entrance of the hallway. "Get them!" Butcher shouted.

The thieves put down their plates and ran towards Chase and Skye. "Stay behind me," Chase told Skye. The first thief reached them carrying a baseball bat. Chase dropped close to the ground and kicked the man's feet from under him. The man fell to the ground, holding his head. Chase quickly snatched the bat and prepared for the next guy.

As the men got closer, Chase tried his hardest to fight them off. Whenever he took one down, more appeared. One guy yanked the bat out of Chase's hands and threw it aside. He tackled Chase, trying to punch him. Chase was holding his arms up when someone swung a bat at the guy's head, knocking him off Chase. Chase looked up to see Skye holding up a bat. She stared at the unconscious man and then at Chase.

"Nice," Chase said. He quickly got up, grabbing another bat from the ground. "Let's do this together."

"Together," Skye repeated. They smiled at each other before charging at the men. One by one, Chase and Skye took down the Night Fury thieves. Sometimes, they would take on someone each, while other times, they would team up to take down multiple. Pretty soon, no more thieves were standing.

"I gotta get myself one of these," Chase said, spinning the bat in the air and catching up. "We did it." He raised his hand to give Skye a high five. Skye started to raise her hand when something launched Chase backward. Chase landed on his back with Butcher standing over him.

"Chase!" Skye yelled. She tried running to him when someone wrapped their arms around Skye's arms and waist.

"Not so fast, sweetie," Vivianne said from behind. "Let the boys play. We have somewhere to go." Skye looked and noticed they were over the shadow of the second-floor walkway. Skye realized what was going to happen. She looked up in time to see Butcher step on Chase's stomach before she disappeared into the shadow.

At first, Skye couldn't see anything. The world around her was pitch black. The only light she saw came from her. Skye looked around, trying to find anything or anyone, but she couldn't. Skye was alone in a dark void.

"Where did you take me?!" Skye yelled.

"To the shadow realm," Vivianne's voice echoed. "The place where all shadows connect. I'm in charge here." Skye felt as if something pushed her forward. She would've fallen on her face except there was no floor. Skye was floating in empty space.

Skye steadied herself and looked around. She felt something push her again, this time from the left. Skye instinctively twisted her body, narrowly avoiding whatever force threatened to send her spiraling into the darkness. Panic began to rise, but she pushed it aside, focusing on breathing. "I can't let fear take over," she whispered.

"Trying to fight back, are we?" Vivianne's voice echoed again, taunting from somewhere within the shadows. "You're in my domain now. There is no escape. And Butcher will take care of your friend out there."
