Chase and Marshall helped Ryder to his feet. "Are you okay, Ryder?" Marshall asked.
"I'm fine," Ryder replied. "Thanks for coming."
"You're our leader. We would do anything for you," Marshall said.
"Heads up," Chase warned. "They're getting up."
The Copycat rose a few feet off the ground, staring at them with hatred. His pulled-back hair was messy, and his coat was covered in dirt. "I am getting tired of you getting in my way," he said. He looked at the three crime bosses. "Deal with them, and you'll be rewarded handsomely." The Copycat flew across the room and grabbed Harold. "We have unfinished business." With that, the Copycat flew out the opening in the window.
Midas looked over at the three heroes and laughed. The others stood to his sides. "You heard the man," Midas exclaimed. "Let's have some fun." Midas summoned a thick gold chain in either hand. The Diamond Tech leader raised his hands, making random objects float around him. Vivianne and Butch, the Night Furies leaders, pulled out hunting knives.
Ryder, Chase, and Marshall looked at each other. They all had the same thought. The original three were back at it again, like old times. Ryder kicked the staff into his hand while Chase and Marshall charged up. "Let's do this."
Midas swung the chains like whips. They extended and reached the nearest hero, Marshall. Marshall rolled out of the way as the chains hooked onto the concrete floor. Marshall grabbed onto the chains and heated his hands. The heat moved up the chains, reaching Midas's hand and making him let go of them. Chase ran over at top speed, punched Midas in the face, and knocked him back.
The Diamond Tech launched objects at Marshall, but Ryder swatted them out of the way with his staff. Ryder ran towards him. The Diamond Tech grabbed the other stuff and began attacking Ryder.
Chase was going to help Ryder when Butch appeared out of the shadows. "Round two," Butch said as he uppercutted Chase.
Chase fell backward and quickly got up. He looked around, looking for Butch and Vivianne. He didn't notice when Vivianne appeared out of the shadow on the ceiling and landed on Chase's shadow. Chase tried to get her off while Vivianne tried stabbing him. Marshall noticed and launched a fireball at Vivianne. The fireball hit Vivianne in the chest, making her fall off Chase. Chase quickly turned around, grabbed the knife from her hand, and ran Vivianne into a whiteboard.
Butch appeared behind Marshall and wrapped his arms around Marshall's neck. "Shouldn't have done that, boy." Marshall felt the oxygen drain out of his lungs. He grabbed Butch's arm and heated his hand. Butch let go in pain, allowing Marshall to punch Butch against the wall. Butch looked up at Marshall before disappearing into the shadows.
Chase appeared next to Marshall. "They will keep disappearing if they have shadows to use," he said. "Think you can brighten up this room?"
Marshall smiled. "I do that in any room I walk into."
Chase laughed. "You know what I mean." In the corner of his eye, Chase noticed a gold chain racing towards them. Chase pushed Marshall out of the way as the chain sped between. Chase grabbed the end of the chain and ran towards Midas.
Chase ran toward Midas. As Chase got closer, Midas kept summoning gold chains, trying to hit him. However, Chase moved around the chains while running forward. "I think you lost this," Chase said. He grabbed the chain and wrapped it around Midas. Midas tried to retract the gold, but it just tightened more. Chase swiped at Midas's feet, putting him on his back. "Stay," Chase said as he ran off to help Ryder.
Ryder was swatting objects that the Diamond Tech leader threw at him. Ryder noticed Chase appeared behind the Diamond Tech, which gave him an idea. The Diamond Tech threw a chair at Ryder. Ryder grabbed the chair by the armrest, swung it around, and threw it back. Luckily, the chair was light and easy to throw. The chair flew far to the right of the Diamond Tech.
The Diamond Tech laughed. "You missed."
"I won't," Chase exclaimed. Chase jumped up, grabbed the chair midair, and hit the Diamond Tech on the side with it. The Diamond Tech fell sideways.
Chase landed next to Ryder. "That chair is light."
"I know, right?" Ryder said. "Should've been using that rather than the staff the entire time."
Chase laughed. "Should we tie him up with the gold guy?"
"Good idea," Ryder said. Before they could move, Vivianne and Butch appeared in front of them and hit them with knives. Thanks to their armor, they weren't cut but were pushed back.
They disappeared back into the shadows before Ryder and Chase could react. "What do you think, Chase?"
"Marshall will use his powers to remove all the shadows," Chase replied.
"Good call," Ryder said. They turned to see Marshall in the center of the room.
Marshall looked at his palms. He felt them warm up and catch fire. Marshall wondered if he could do that with the rest of his body. He concentrated on the fire, commanding it to his will. The fire climbed his arms and covered the rest of his body. In an instant, his entire body was engulfed in bright flames.
Vivianne and Butch chose the wrong moment to come out of the shadows. They were ready to stab Ryder when they got blinded by the burning fire. Ryder and Chase noticed them and shoved them into the wall, making them fall unconsciously. Chase used his superspeed to grab them, along with the Diamond Tech, and tied them up with Midas.
"That was something," Ryder said as he sat on the chair. "I'm tired."
Chase and Marshall laughed as they sat at his sides. Although the battle was still roaring outside, they took a quick breather. Unfortunately, they didn't get a chance. The Copycat appeared outside the opening in the wall.
"I hope you didn't go easy on those annoying heroes," The Copycat said. He looked inside, and his smile faded. His gaze shot from the tied-up villains to the heroes, who were now standing. "How?"
"I already told you," Ryder exclaimed. "We will stop you."
The Copycat grunted in frustration. His face burned red with anger. "Do I have to do everything myself?!" He roared. The Copycat flew towards the three of them and threw them out of the window. As they fell, Rocky was lucky enough to notice them. He used all his strength to form a makeshift slide so they could fall unharmed.
"Are you okay?!" Rocky asked as he and Rubble helped them up.
"We're fine," Ryder replied. He looked up at the battle. Gabriel and the others were taking out the last of the soldiers. "How's it going down here?"
Rocky looked up. "The remaining soldiers are retreating. We're close to winning this."
Thirty feet above them, a nearby building exploded with dust and debris flying everywhere. The heroes covered their eyes from the dust. When they opened them up, they all gasped in horror.
The Copycat floated in the air. In one arm, he held a broken drone like a baseball bat. In the other hand, he grasped an unconscious Skye by the back of the neck. Her face was covered in dust.
"You speak too soon, Rocky," The Copycat yelled. He tossed Skye towards them.
Chase was able to catch and hold her in his arms. "Skye, are you okay?!" He felt her raspy breath and her weakened heartbeat. She was alive but badly injured. She had a purple bruise on the side of her head as if she had been hit by something big. Chase looked up at the broken drone in the Copycat's hand.
"It won't matter if she's alive," The Copycat said. "I will finish this myself."
