Over the following three months after the PAW Patrol faced The Copycat, the city looked better than ever. Each member contributed to Project Recovery. Although they didn't have their powers, they knew they could still help in other ways.
Chase, Bruce, and their allies in the police department successfully dismantled the Phoenix Riders, Diamond Techs, and the Night Furies. They closed down their operations, arrested loyal members, investigated corruption within the police and military ranks, and confiscated all their assets. Crime dropped significantly since most of the criminals in the city were associated with one or more of these groups.
Marshall and Everest assisted in transporting injured civilians to hospitals and clinics for treatment. They were able to obtain large quantities of pharmaceuticals that needed to be relocated to areas where they could be most effective.
Skye and Zuma worked to clear the river of debris. They carried small items by hand and loaded them into construction dumpsters placed along the shore. For anything too large to move, they received help to cut it up. Skye would fly a helicopter over, lower a chain with a winch, and Zuma would connect it to the trash underwater to pull it out.
Rubble and Rocky collaborated with local construction companies to rebuild the city. They demolished, damaged, or abandoned buildings. While some structures were destroyed in the battle, others were old ones that the city wanted to replace or renovate. Rubble and Rocky got to work using cranes, bulldozers, and other large machinery to clear the lots.
With assistance from local architects, engineers, and contractors from Thor City and the Crystal Coast, construction on new buildings began almost immediately. The city approved permits rapidly, allowing remodels and construction projects within the community. Local businesses returned to operation, fixing their shops to welcome customers back. Little by little, the people of Thor City came together to restore their homes.
Ryder was busy holding meetings at the town hall. The mayor had asked Gabriel and him to conduct conferences where residents could express their opinions on how to improve the city.
"After everything that happened with The Copycat, it should be our top priority to bring people together," the mayor told them.
"We couldn't agree more," Ryder replied.
The PAW Patrol worked tirelessly, ensuring that Thor City residents could return to their everyday lives with a sense of security and comfort. Before long, Project Recovery had surpassed its expectations. Locals took over much of the work, creating new ways to develop their city. They advanced so much that the PAW Patrol even served hot lunches to everyone who helped with the projects.
After everyone was served, Ryder and the others found an empty table and sat together. Everest, Marshall, and Chase sat on one side while Skye, Zuma, Rocky, Rubble, and Ryder sat on the other.
"How's it going, everybody?" Ryder asked as they ate.
"Really great, Ryder, sir," Chase replied. "Today, when I went out on patrol, I couldn't find any problems. The night crews also reported no criminal activity. The only things they saw were families and couples enjoying late-night walks again."
"That's amazing, Chase," Ryder exclaimed. "What about the rest of you?"
"Marshall and I helped replant flowers and trees at the park," Everest said.
"After that, I dropped by the hospital to check on the supplies. They still have enough to last for another year without needing to restock, which will happen every month. They won't run out anytime soon. If it weren't for Zuma remembering the medical supplies at the warehouse, they would have run out two months ago."
"I'm just glad I got to help, dude," Zuma stated.
Ryder nodded, a smile on his face. "It's incredible how much we can accomplish when we work together. Every little bit helps!"
Skye chimed in, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "And the river looks so much cleaner! I saw kids playing near the water yesterday. It felt amazing to see them enjoying the park again."
"Yeah! We did good work," Zuma added, grinning. "And it's nice to see people smiling and coming together again."
Rubble, who had been munching on a sandwich, looked up. "I can't wait to see the new buildings go up! It feels like we're giving the city a fresh start. Plus, I love using all the heavy machinery!" His excitement was infectious, and the others couldn't help but laugh.
Rocky nodded in agreement. "Recycling materials and creating new structures is the best! We're not just rebuilding; we're building smarter and more eco-friendly."
"You are all doing such a great job," Ryder commented.
"Couldn't agree more," Gabriel said as he sat down with them. Ainsley and Bruce also joined them. Ainsley and Bruce sat next to Chase, while Gabriel sat next to Ryder. "You guys have done wonders for this city. Not only did you help with The Copycat, but Thor City is thriving because of you. More residents are getting involved in city events, crime is at a record-breaking low, and it has never looked better. We will forever be grateful for what you have all done."
"It truly has been wonderful," Ainsley said. "Which is why we are hosting a party to commemorate the defeat of the villains and the rise of our beautiful city."
"A party?" Ryder asked.
"It's a bit more formal than that, but yes," Gabriel explained. "There will be food, music, dancing, and an all-around unforgettable experience. And we would love for you to be there. What do you say, Ryder?"
Ryder looked over at the others. Everyone looked at him for a response. Everest, Skye, and Rubble were grinning from ear to ear with excitement. They had never been to a party as humans, so this would be a new adventure for all of them. Ryder decided that they deserved to relax and have some fun after all they had done. With Harold working on the teleportation device, they had the perfect opportunity to do just that.
Ryder turned to Gabriel. "Count us in."
