The following morning, the sun burst through the window onto Chase's face. Chase rubbed his eyes as he woke up. Chase stayed lying down on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. After a minute, he sat on the edge of the bed. Once he was fully awake, he noticed that his alarm was going off. He instinctively pressed the button to shut it off before standing up.
Chase grabbed a fresh set of clothes, took a quick shower, and got ready to wake everyone else up. As Chase walked out of the bathroom, he noticed that the time read 9:15 AM.
"Wait, what?" he asked rhetorically as he ran over to the clock. "That can't be right," he said to himself. "I was supposed to be downstairs two hours ago."
Chase ran towards the door and swung it open. He looked outside the hallway, but it was completely empty. Chase figured everyone was already downstairs, eating breakfast. He raced through the hall, down the stairs, and towards the dining room.
"Sorry, I'm late," Chase said as he entered the dining area. "I overslept a little... bit." Chase realized the only people at the table were Gabriel, Bruce, and Ainsley. They looked at him as if he came out of a portal.
"Good morning to you, too, Chase," Gabriel said, receiving a slight chuckle from Bruce and Ainsley.
"Good morning," Chase said slowly, still confused. "I'm sorry, did everyone else eat already?"
"Yeah, they ate their breakfast, and Dave is now taking them back to Crystal Coast. They said you could catch up with your superspeed once you finish eating."
"But, we don't have the crystals anymore," Chase said.
"Really? Well, that would've been nice to know," Gabriel said. Chase was already planning how he would reach them when Gabriel broke the news. "I'm kidding, Chase." The three at the table began laughing. "I was just joking. You're the first one to wake up."
Chase smiled and chuckled awkwardly. "Okay, so no one else is awake."
"The battle must've drained the energy out of all of you," Bruce said. "We didn't expect any of you to be awake for at least another hour."
"Well, I'm awake," Chase stated the obvious. "Should I get the others?"
"That would probably be best," Gabriel admitted. "For me, I would let them sleep until they woke up on their own, but our agenda is pretty packed today."
Chase nodded. "I'll be right back." He walked off and returned to the second floor. The first door he knocked on was Ryder's door, followed by Skye, Marshall, Rubble, Everest, Zuma, and lastly Rocky. They all opened their doors almost simultaneously. Some opened the doors wide open, while others just stuck their heads out to see what was going on.
"Sorry for waking everyone up," Chase started, "but Gabriel would like to see us in the breakfast area. He says they have an agenda for the day." Slight groans came from the team.
"I suppose it would be best," Ryder said as he rubbed his eyes. "We still have much to do around the city. Chase, please tell them we will be downstairs in a bit. We'll get ready and meet you there."
"Yes, sir," Chase replied. Chase returned downstairs while the others showered and got changed.
One by one, the PAW Patrol made their way to the breakfast area. Servants brought out a plate of traditional breakfasts as they sat down. Everyone was given a cup of coffee, except for Rubble and Rocky, which were prepared by Chase and Ainsley, who ensured they were drinkable.
"Well, I'd like to start by apologizing for waking you up," Gabriel said. "I know that with everything that happened yesterday, you all must be beat."
"It's completely fine, Gabriel," Ryder said. "We needed to get up anyway. And this coffee is helping a lot." Chase and Ainsley tapped their cups from across the table, to which the others laughed. "And we're here to help in whatever way possible."
