Her voice was soft and also low with a tinge of vulnerability as she asked, "Chaery... Have you ever fallen in love with someone who doesn't love you back..?"

Chaeryeong was taken aback by the question. As she stared at Y/N, she noticed something about her smile. It looked to be a soft, casual smile, but there was something deeper like bittersweetness and sadness.

"Yes, I have." Chaeryeong's confession hung in the air for a moment, followed by her own question, "And you, Y/N. Have you ever fallen in love with someone who doesn't love you back?" She repeated word after word, silently hoping for a response.

Y/N didn't respond, no words came out of her mouth. Her lips held a faint, mysterious, smile. Y/N's silence was saying more than any other words.

Chaeryeong's eyes stared at Y/N's face, especially that smile, trying to read the emotions behind it.

After a pause that felt like an eternity, Y/N finally spoke, her voice barely above a whisper. "I am." She said.

Chaeryeong's heart tightened as she heard the spoken words. Y/N's response had no sense as an answer to the question but Chaeryeong understood her.

She loved someone.

The realization hit Chaeryeong hard, a sharp stab of pain in her chest. She fought to keep her emotions, forcing a smile to hide her pain.

Chaeryeong could only manage a quiet reply. "I see..." She wanted to say something, to ask who it was, but the words wouldn't come out.

After that, the silence returned, heavy with unspoken words. Y/N drifted back to sleep. Chaeryeong was staring at Y/N's peaceful face, she continued to admire her, but now there was a hint of sadness behind her gaze.

Hours later,

Finally, as the clock struck 5 PM, Y/N exclaimed with excitement, "I finished!"

The last of her exercises had been completed, she could finally rest and enjoy her holidays. Her aunt and Chaeryeong applauded, theirs clapping together to celebrate Y/N's efforts.

Y/N's aunt suddenly stood up from her chair. "Now that you have finished, I've got a little emergency. I gotta go." she explained.
Without wasting a moment, she quickly headed out of the library, leaving Y/N and Chaeryeong alone together.

Y/N called out a goodbye to her aunt, "Bye Auntie!" The librarian, however, wasn't amused by the sudden outburst. She shot Y/N a stern stare.

Y/N avoided the gaze of the librarian and muttered under her breath, "Oops, forgot about the 'silence' policy."

Chaeryeong spoke, getting Y/N's attention, "What will you do now?" She asked.

Before answering, Y/N took a moment to stretch a little, the past hours of seating leaving her muscle stiff.

"Dunno..."

Y/N leaned against the table, resting her head on her arms, and asked a question back at Chaeryeong. "What will you do?"

Chaeryeong held up her English manual. "I'm planning to stay longer to study my English a little more," she explained.

Y/N's eyes lit up with excitement as she suggested, "Oh, then want me to ask you some questions?" Chaeryeong couldn't help but smile at Y/N's excitement. She handed the manual to Y/N and prepared herself.

Chaeryeong was confused as Y/N didn't take the manual. Instead, Y/N proposed, "No need. I'll say some sentences and you'll need to translate them to English!" Chaeryeong nodded.
