Without a word, you climb onto the bike behind Izana, wrapping your arms around his waist as the weight of the evening settles in. Izana revs the engine, glancing back at you one more time. "Ready?"
You nod wordlessly, your emotions too tangled to speak. With a roar, the bike speeds off into the night, leaving the tension and heartache of the Sano household far behind.
As you ride in silence, you lean into Izana, seeking the comfort you desperately need. For a few moments, neither of you speaks.
Then, Izana breaks the quiet with a sarcastic edge to his voice. "You're not going to cry now, are you?" He knows you're on the verge of breaking, but his tone remains sharp.
You don't answer. Instead, the tears silently fall, your grip tightening around his waist. Izana lets out an irritated sigh but chooses not to push further.
Moments later, the bike comes to a stop in front of his house. You step off, emotionless but still crying. You glance up at the building, the sun reflecting off the windows in a soft golden hue. The beauty around you feels like a cruel joke as you scoff bitterly. Izana, unfazed by your strange behaviour, ushers you inside with his usual short temper.
You enter his apartment in silence, heading straight for the couch. Sitting down, you find your tears have dried, but your mind races, trying to make sense of it all. Why did this have to happen today? How could he hurt me like that? The anger begins to bubble beneath your sadness. Without thinking, you blurt out, "Why am I always surrounded by assholes?"
Izana, who's feeding his fish, shoots you a sideways glance. He's unsure how to handle this but masks it with indifference. "That's for you to figure out.", he replies coldly.
You ignore him, frustration spilling over. "Why does this always happen to me? Everyone leaves. Am I that annoying? Not worth it?" Your fists clench tightly, eyes fixated on the floor. "How dare he make a decision like that without even talking to me? Does he think I'm just some stupid little girl? How dare he!" You hit the couch in anger, your voice trembling.
Izana frowns, his thoughts drifting to his own past — times when he, too, felt abandoned. Staring out at the cityscape through the window, he mutters, "If you're that mad, why not get revenge?"
He walks over to you, leaning in with an intense look. "Whatever he did to you, do it back. Twice as bad. That'll make you feel better."
His words catch you off guard. You flinch slightly at his sudden closeness, whispering, "Revenge?" You look down, sadness settling over your features. "No. I can't... . I still love him."
Izana's eyes widen in surprise before he pulls back, clicking his tongue in irritation. He crosses his arms and scoffs. "Love.", he spits out. "You'll never change anything if you let that hold you back. Just get rid of it. You were mad, weren't you?"
You rub your arms, feeling torn between your anger and lingering affection. "Yes, I was. But hurting him would be wrong. I don't want that. I... . I shouldn't have slept him."
"So what?" Izana interrupts harshly. "He hurt you. You hurt him back. It's simple."
You give him a sad smile, shaking your head. "It's not that simple. Even if I could, it wouldn't make anything better. I won't feel any different after."
Izana frowns at your response, turning away in frustration. "Whatever. I don't care anyway."
You blink at his reaction but can't help a small smile. He says that, but he's been trying to help me this whole time. Despite everything, a tiny weight lifts off your shoulders.
