SMALL CANDLES WERE THE ONLY source of light behind the thin curtain, music and voices carrying over from the next room, though the pair were secluded as to give them more privacy. And they had been alone, up until a serving girl entered, carrying a tray with a drink for the young prince. He gave her a small smile from where he was perched on the edge of the bed as to not frighten her too much, seeing as his sapphire eye was uncovered and on display--he felt no reason to hide it here. As soon as the young girl made her leave, the boy spoke.
"Daemon sent them to kill me," He mused, his eyes downcast into the contents of the goblet. "I was out."
Sylvi hummed softly in response, furrowing her brows as she watched his leather clad figure. "You were with me."
And it was true; Aemond had visited the brothel during the time of Prince Jahaerys' murder. He had gotten wind that the woman had ways of smuggling people in and out of cities undetected and had hoped he could get her help. Though, where he needed her to infiltrate deemed a much harder task than those she had done before.
"In truth, I am proud...that he considers me such a foe. And he seeks to murder me in my bed." He sends a smirk to the woman over his shoulder. "He's afraid of me."
"As well he should be." She paused a moment. "The whispers say your son was brought back to you. Is it true?"
Aemond nodded slowly, reaching over to set the cup down and turned his body to face the woman. "Vaella is alive. Or...at least was." His eyes drifted off, focusing on a candle flame flickering just beside Sylvi's head. "I do regret that business with Luke. I lost my temper that day; I am sorry for it."
It felt nice for the prince to finally be able to speak with someone on the matter that had happened not so long ago--though it felt like an eternity. With his wife gone, he had no one that would truly listen to him, all of his family brushing aside his confessions due to the fact that he had started a war no one was truly prepared for. He had put on a strong façade, sure, but the weight of what he did he crushing him slowly.
"I am glad to hear it." The woman said slowly, not wanting to set the boy off.
He sighed softly. "They used to tease me, you know? Because I was different."
"I would remind you only that when princes lose their temper, it is often others who suffer; the smallfolk...like me."
"I know..." The prince said softly, his eye finally turning back to one of his long time confidants. "But, there are more pressing mattes to discuss." He paused momentarily. "Have you found a way in?"
Sylvi smirked slightly, nodding once. "Did you doubt me?"
"Not once."
His answer was quick, though it did not take the woman aback; she knew that Aemond had trust in her, especially since he placed this task on her. "There is a ship that left the harbor earlier this day carrying one of my old confidants. Though she is attending other matters, she owed a favor to me. Once she arrives, she will scope out the situation and report back to me on her findings." A pause. "I am not wasting someone if she is already dead, Aemond; you must understand that."
The prince nodded, slowly rising from his seat, grabbing his discarded eyepatch as he did so. "Very well. Send word to me as soon as you know more." He glanced back at her as he approached the curtain. "Thank you for your help, Sylvi."
