A/n: Check out Savannah826073 's book 'Within These Walls'. It follows a female protagonist, Rylie and the life in the Glade. Honestly, so far, this book is like perfection. It is amazing. Highly recommend.

Ace and I gaped at the once opening, amazed at our utterly stupid decision. Panting, we both scanned our surroundings

'Good job, you just killed yourself.' commented Minho

'Yeah, well, maybe if you shunking ran faster, we wouldn't be in this mess.' I remarked

'How is this my fault? I didn't tell you to run in.'

'We were trying to help you'

'Help? You tried to help? You have been no help to us for ages. All you have been doing is hiding in that shucking kitchen, with your new best friends. Huh?'

'I am in that kitchen because I don't know, maybe it is my shucking job!'

'ENOUGH BOTH OF YOU! MINHO, BE FUCKING GRATEFUL BECAUSE WE BOTH KNOW THAT YOU WON'T SURVIVE A SECOND IN THIS MAZE ALONE WITH AN UNCONSCIOUS BOY! Y/N, YOU DUG YOURSELF THIS GRAVE. FRYPAN TOLD YOU THAT YOU SHOULDN'T AVOID THEM SO DON'T ACT SURPRISED WHEN THEY CONFRONT YOU! This little dilemma is the worst of our problems right now.' shouted Ace, spite woven in his words

'What happened to him?' Ace asked returning to his usual tone acting like he didn't just yell at us, gesturing to the unconscious boy, not taking his eyes off him.

'What does it look like? He got stung.' responded Minho

'What happened to his head?'

'I did what I had to do.'

Ace looked back at Minho, horror filled his eyes, but I knew that Minho had no other choice. Alby was practically already gone. In the distance, Grievers let out a hideous roar, alerting us of our newfound challenges.

'Alright, help me get him up.' I said to the two boys

'We have gotta go, the maze is already changing' rebutted the runner

'HEY MINHO! We can't just leave him here.' challenged Ace

Minho gaped at us like we belonged in a mental asylum but decided to assist us anyway. The three of us navigated around the Maze until we finally couldn't take it anymore and sat Alby down against an ivy wall. In the distance, we heard a Griever, alerting us to the ticking watch until we had to face one.

'We have gotta go.' demanded Minho, rushing upwards

'We have got to do something. We have to hide him.' I bargained

'Where?'

'I don't know. Minho, just think. You are telling me there is not a single place we could take him.'

Minho ran up to me, grabbing the collar of my shirt, his face awfully close to mine, eyes piercing mine. 'Listen to me shunk face alright? Take a look around. There is nowhere to go!' Minho stood up backing away from me, but his tone remained frustrated 'You don't get it. We are already dead.'

Ace who had been motionless, suddenly picked himself up and looked past Minho and me. I made eye contact with the thing he was looking at and realized what he saw. A branch of ivies. A place to conceal Alby.

The Moon replaced the Sun, and we were still pulling the leader up the wall of ivy. Through a series of grunts and pants we slowly heaved him upwards.

'Graaaahhhhhrrrr'

The Grievers sound caught our attention, especially Minho's 'We have gotta go!' We have gotta go now!'

'No, no, no. Just a little more, then we will tie it off.' I bartered

We could all hear the Grievers slowly clicking as it made our way to us.

'I'm sorry' with that Minho sprinted, leaving Ace and I stranded in a foreign environment. I found myself hyperventilating and the Grievers clicking came closer, bouncing off the Maze walls. Ace pulled me under a bush of ivy as we hid silently, knowing it could be our last moments. The Grievers approached us slowly and we saw-felt its mechanical almost robot-like legs come dangerously near to us.

I stopped breathing, trying to remain as quiet as possible in such a small space. The Griever made a low growl-whirring sound as it went past us, like it was telling us that we would be his next meal. It continued past us and deeper into the Maze, as we both let out a relieved sign. Sliding out from under the ivy, Ace tied off Alby and the two of us navigated carefully the Maze, attempting to find Minho, knowing his is our only ticket out of here once the doors reopened. Griever roars and clicking bounced off the Maze walls, filling the silence of the Maze making the dark ivy walls an eerie place.

We continued walking cautiously until I stepped in a puddle of goo. Shaking it off my shoe, Ace felt more on his shoulder slowly pool, causing both of us to look up. There it was. A Griever.
