Question of the Post: Would you survive the Maze?

The group of Gladers ran throughout the ivy walls, Thomas and Minho at the front leading everyone. We passed through each section as the rest of the Gladers looked at their surroundings in amazement, experiencing life outside their homes for the first time.

After half an hour of running, we finally got to an opening, where I'm guessing the way out was. The group took cover on the side of one of the walls.

'Is it a Griever?' Chuck asked

'Yeah' replied Thomas, who was at the front answered, peering out of the wall, to the opening

An uneasy tension filled the group, knowing we had to fight one again, and that some of us could die right now.

'You take this Chuck. Stay behind us.' Minho stated, handing Chuck the metal object with the red glowing seven on it

'It's okay. Just stick with me.' Teresa said, trying up her hair very messily, gesturing to Chuck

'Once we're through, it'll activate and the door will open,' Thomas started, all attention shifting back to him 'All right, we stay close, we stick together, we get through this. We get out now... or we die trying. Ready?'

The boy slammed the wooden pole in his hand on the ground, as the rest of the Gladers got their weapons out, determined and aggressive looks travelling throughout the pack

'All right. Let's go!' screamed Thomas as we all charged at the alert Grievers. We all started yelling a battle cry as the Grievers started pouncing towards us. We ran along the thin narrow ledge, as poles made the first contact with the robotic monsters. The scene was a mess, human vs Griever, as we all worked together to defeat a Griever.

'Push it!' someone screamed as everyone with poles started trapping the Griever on the corner of the ledge, towards the endless pit of doom on the sides. In a scared fit, the Maze monster started spinning around, tail flailing through the air, until it found a target. One of the Gladers, but there was no help, as soon as the Griever grabbed on, he was gone, tossed towards the side, falling to his death. Gaining the advantage the Griever started stabbing its legs anywhere it could, hoping on luck to find a target in a sea full of teenagers.

We kept on pushing with our poles as the Griever started to run out of ideas, until the monster had no choice left but to fall of the side. We all cheered, happiness filling us as we were one step closer to life outside the Maze. All of that was quickly drained though when we witnessed an army of Grievers climbing up the sides of the platform where Teresa and Chuck were stationed.

'Run!' everyone started screaming as we ran towards the opposite direction of the Grievers, towards the closed off walls as some of the stronger boys, fended off the Grievers. We looked behind to where the ivied wall was, only to find the wall rising, revealing an opening

'RUN!' I yelled to Teresa and Chuck as they ran through the series of lifting walls while the rest of us defended ourselves against the monsters sent to kill us. The Gladers grew exhausted as slowly the Grievers gained on us, pushing us through the lifted walls, closer to the exit. Gladers were screaming encouragement but no one could make out full words, everyone's yells scrambled together. Some Gladers started charging, risking their lives to kill one, none of them being successful. The Grievers started becoming increasingly powerful as we all kept pushing them away, desperate for a break.

We could hear a yelling conversation between Teresa, Thomas and Minho, as the Asian Runner started yelling out random numbers.

'Heads up!' Newt yelled, but not quickly enough as a Grievers flung itself on top of Minho. The boy tried with all his might to resist the Griever and hold it back but everyone knew it wouldn't last long. Jeff, whether he'd gone crazy or was just brave, yelled and charged at the Griever, stabbing the back on the monster with his wooden pole, saving Minho, sacrificing himself. We all heard his screams as the monster started biting down on him, taking our friend away from life.

All of a sudden, the walls came crushing down, swashing the Grievers and others ran towards us, fighting for their survival. Darkness filled the room as the final wall came down, killing all the Grievers. We were finally at peace with the darkness.
