The ivy walls reopened with a low rumble as the three of us slowly rose from our seats on the floor. We heard about a dozen voices on the other side, all sounding anxious. We gradually made our way to the opening doors, Alby's weight divided between the group.
'OH MY GOSH, THEY ARE ALIVE!' shouted a young voice, which I immediately recognised as Chuck.
The crowd erupted into a roar of cheers as we exited the horrors of the Maze, returning to the safety of the Glade. We slowly dropped Alby into the floor, allowing Jeff and Clint to tend to him. Minho, Ace, and I slumped down next to Alby, processing that we were still alive because of a miracle. A moment of silence passed us, and then we were bombarded with questions.
'What happened out there?' Newt questioned
'How'd you guys make it out?' a Glader queried
'You saw a Griever' asked Chuck
'Yeah, we saw one.' I replied to Chuck
'They didn't just see it. Them two.' Minho said gesturing to Ace and me 'They killed it.'
I felt all eyes on us, burning holes through my body as Minho said that. Everyone was shocked that we did the impossible.
'Alright. You three. Come to the Medhut. We will get you checked out.' said the Keeper of the Med Jacks, breaking the silence as astonishment coated the air.
Minho, Ace and I all stood up, exhaustion lingering in our steps, as we followed Jeff and Clint with Newt, Thomas and Chuck right behind us, keen for answers. Jeff turned the wooden doorknob, leading the seven of us inside. Minho, Ace and I all took one of the beds, sitting on the edge as Jeff and Clint examined our wounds. Some of the other Gladers brought Alby in, placing him on the second bed. Once we were all checked up, the two Med Jacks took us back to the main room.
'You guys are all good, but you are all exhausted, so you all need to rest today.' stated Jeff
'Ok, thank you guys.' said Ace
'Yeah, thank you.' I seconded
With that, the Med Jacks left leaving the six of us in an awkward silence. I got up to leave hoping to avoid the dreaded conversation that Minho would force us to take, only for him to grab my wrist, forcing me back onto the chair.
'Not so fast, Y/n, you two explain.' he demanded
'Explain what?' asked Thomas
Minho gave me an expectant look, but I kept my head low, not wanting to answer any questions.
'Well...' Newt prompted hoping to get an answer
'Ace and Y/n aren't human. Ace is a werewolf and Y/n is a hellhound.' Minho blurted out
I cringed at Minho's comment; it sounded like I was in some kind of fanfiction story, where the main character was some kind of supernatural creature who wants to hide herself. Well, I guess that kind of fits my life right now though.
'Huh?' Chuck said, disbelief laced in his voice.
'Minho, are you high?' questioned Newt
'It is true' Ace started. He looked at me, making sure that I was okay with him explaining which I nodded in return. Ace started explaining everything as I kept quiet, unable to speak.
'So, this is why you have been avoiding us?' Thomas questioned directly at me.
I nodded by head as I felt tears prickling in my eyes, nervous of how they would think of me now.
'I'm so sorry' I said making eye contact with everyone. Newt saw the tears in my eyes, his blonde hair caught in the morning sun glow.
'Hey, it is ok. You wanted to protect us. It is ok.' he reassured
