While Neena went off to think, or in other words plot, Will set up the tent. I took it upon myself to check if the coast was clear, although Will had assured us that it was, he hadn't really proven himself trustworthy and I guess I just needed to clear my head.
I was walking through the woods, enjoying the sounds of wildlife all around me and the peace and serenity that came with it, when the scent hit me. It had this weird smell to it and it was oddly familiar. Where had I smelt it before.... I felt my blood run cold as I suddenly remembered why the smell was so familiar, it was the scent of the stranger who had been at my house the day of my birthday.
I wanted to run back to safety but I had to get to the bottom of this. I followed the scent as though it was a trail of cookies. I was focused on the task at hand, so focused that I didn't think to take in my surroundings but as I looked up I let out a weak whimper and fell to the ground as I remembered the events that had unfolded in this very same place.

I remember running, running for my dear life but I wasn't scared because my mum had always told me that I was 'superwolf'. I let out a shrill laugh as the rogue wolves attempted to catch me but they failed. "Run, run as fast as you can you can't catch me I'm super wolf" I had yelled at them, I had come to a sudden stop, though, when I saw a familiar face. I remember the joy I had felt at seeing his face and within the time frame of minutes I had been curled up on the ground, covered in blood. My blood....

"Shanan? Shanan! Snap out of it! It's okay your safe!" The sound of Will's voice pulled me out of the torturous memory
"It's not okay!" I yelled at him
"Shanan what happened? Are you okay?" I looked up at his concerned face and wondered how he could go from caring, one minute, to hateful, the next.
"Don't act like you care!" I snapped, from my position on the ground where I had fallen to my knees
"I don't" I cringed as he said it "but my wolf does" he added, in a more gentle tone
"Well your wolf should stop worrying, I'm a big girl and I can handle myself" I said, and with that I got up and left him but for once leaving my mate behind wasn't what was causing my grief. No, I had other problems to deal, problems that were more important than my complicated, if not non-existent, relationship with Will.
It was time to face the fact that seeing my Dad and his pack again would mean unraveling things that were better left in the past.
