Eva's POV
The hospital room was quieter than I expected, though the sterile scent of antiseptic still lingered in the air. I lay there, wrapped in layers of bandages, with an IV drip running into my arm. It had been hours since the police arrived, since Suho was hauled away, and I was still processing it all—what had happened, what was happening now.
My body ached with every movement, the pain deep and persistent, but it was nothing compared to the emotional toll. I wasn't sure how I managed to stay conscious through it all, but I did. Felix and Chan had never left my side, their presence a steadying force. They'd kept telling me I was safe, that everything would be okay now. But I still couldn't fully grasp it.
Suddenly, the door to my hospital room opened. I turned my head, and my heart skipped a beat when I saw JYP standing there, his usual composed expression in place, though I could see a flicker of concern behind his eyes.
"Eva," he said softly, his voice carrying a calmness that I desperately needed right now. "How are you feeling?"
I managed a small, weak smile. "Better," I whispered, though the truth was I didn't feel better at all. Not really.
He stepped into the room, closing the door behind him. Felix and Chan, who had been quietly sitting beside my bed, stood up. Chan gave me a reassuring smile, his eyes tired but kind, and Felix's gaze was full of worry, but it was softened by relief.
JYP looked at them both, nodding briefly before his attention returned to me. He sat down at the edge of my bed, his demeanor professional but not cold. He seemed to take a deep breath before speaking again.
"I'm sure you're aware by now that the company has been notified about everything that's happened. We've taken every measure to ensure that you're protected, Eva." His gaze softened. "And I'm sure you'll have a lot of questions, but there's one thing I need to make clear to you right now."
I looked at him, confused. "What do you mean?"
JYP hesitated for a moment, and when he spoke again, his words carried weight, a sense of finality. "Eva, you don't need to participate in the survival show. You've been selected as one of the final trainees for the debut group."
My breath caught in my throat. For a moment, I couldn't process what he was saying. "What? I... I don't understand. But I thought..." My voice trailed off. "The survival show... wasn't I supposed to compete?"
He nodded, his eyes serious. "You were, but after everything that has happened—after what you've been through—we've decided that you've proven enough. You've earned your spot already. We want you on the team."
Felix and Chan exchanged surprised looks, but neither of them said anything. They simply watched me, their expressions unreadable but supportive.
I felt my heart racing, and a wave of emotions surged through me—relief, disbelief, and even guilt. I wasn't sure I deserved it. After everything, I hadn't been part of the show, hadn't proven myself in front of the viewers. But JYP's words were clear. They had seen enough.
I blinked, trying to process the overwhelming rush of feelings. "But... I didn't do anything. I barely even made it through this. How can I possibly—"
JYP interrupted gently. "Eva, you've shown strength in ways most people could never imagine. The company has recognized that. And more importantly, so have your teammates. You're ready. And this decision is about more than just your talent—it's about your ability to overcome obstacles. You've done that, and then some."
His words felt like a weight being lifted off my shoulders, but at the same time, they placed a new kind of pressure on me. I wasn't sure if I was ready. I wasn't sure if I even deserved this opportunity.
"Are you sure?" I asked softly, unsure if I was ready to accept this responsibility. "I mean, there's so much more I need to prove. I haven't even finished my training properly yet. I..."
Felix reached out and took my hand, his grip warm and steady. "You've already proved everything you needed to. To us. To yourself. And now it's time to show the world."
I looked at him, his comforting smile somehow making everything feel a little lighter. He was right. I didn't need to be perfect. I just needed to be me.
JYP gave a small nod, his expression softening even more. "We know this is a lot to take in, and we understand if you need time to process everything. But when you're ready, we'll be here. The team, the company—we're all behind you, Eva." He stood up, glancing at Felix and Chan. "Take all the time you need. But know that you don't have to prove anything to anyone anymore."
I was silent for a long moment, letting his words sink in. It was hard to believe, hard to trust that everything was finally starting to fall into place after the chaos I'd endured. But as I looked at Felix, then at Chan, I realized something. I didn't have to do this alone.
Maybe I wasn't ready, but I didn't have to be.
When I was finally able to speak again, my voice was quiet but filled with determination. "Thank you. I... I won't let you down."
Felix squeezed my hand. "We'll be right there with you every step of the way."
I nodded slowly, feeling a sense of calm starting to wash over me. This was just the beginning of something new. I had no idea what the future held, but I knew one thing for sure: I wasn't alone anymore. And no matter how difficult the path ahead would be, I would fight for it. For myself. For the people who believed in me.
And most importantly, for Eva.
