The sound of the faucet running echoed through the dorm as Olivia filled her mug with water. She walked out, returning a short while later with the mug empty. She repeated this four times before I finally asked, "Are you watering the plants?"
Olivia paused for a moment, her hand still gripping the empty mug. She glanced at me with a small grin, as if considering whether to admit the truth. Finally, she nodded and said, "Yeah, I've been watering the plants outside. They're looking a bit dry."
I raised an eyebrow. "You could've asked me for help, you know."
She shrugged, not looking the least bit bothered. "Nah, it's kind of peaceful. Plus, I like the routine."
I watched her head back out the door with the mug again, realizing there was something calming about her quiet task, as simple as it was.
"The kindness runs in the family, huh?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "Is even your sister Rachel the same?"
I noticed Olivia's ears turning a faint shade of red. I couldn't help but tease her, "Are you seriously blushing over what I said?" I laughed, enjoying the moment.
"N-No!" she stammered, and before I could say anything more, she hurried out of the dorm. I stared after her, a little confused, then turned to Young-woo. "What's wrong with her?"
"Nothing," she replied, her attention already back on her manga book.
I sighed, flopping back onto the bed. Han Jisung had said he would call me anytime to practice, so I figured I should rest up as much as I could. But just as I was about to relax, the door to the dorm opened, and Bangchan stepped inside with a grin.
"Hello, it's Korean class for you today," he announced.
I groaned, sitting up. "I thought I had more time to rest."
I rubbed my face in frustration, but Bangchan was already stepping toward me, a knowing smile on his face. "You need to get better at pronunciation, or you'll never catch up with the rest of the class," he said, pulling up a chair beside me.
I groaned, leaning back in my seat. "I know, I know. Just let me have a little more time to rest first."
But he wasn't having it. "Nope. You've had enough time to rest. Now, let's hear you say this." He handed me a sheet with some Korean phrases on it.
I sighed, glancing at the words. "Okay, okay. Fine."
He looked at me expectantly as I took a deep breath and started reading the phrases aloud. It felt like I was messing up more than I was getting right. The sounds seemed so different from what I was used to.
