As the clock ticked and the mundane routine of my part-time job settled in, I couldn't shake the sense of dread from my earlier encounter with my father. My thoughts drifted to Lix, his messages a small beacon of light in my otherwise dark world.

I worked the register at a convenience store, surrounded by shelves stocked with instant noodles, snacks, and drinks. The fluorescent lights flickered overhead, and the monotonous hum of the freezer filled the air. I was grateful for the distraction, but a part of me longed for the connection I had found in Lix.

As I scanned a customer's items, my phone buzzed again. I glanced at the screen: a new message from Lix.

Lix: "Hey! Did you check out a new vlog by Stray Kids Felix?

I paused for a moment. I quickly typed back, the words tumbling out.

Eva: "No, I haven't seen it yet. I've been working. Also half of his name is your nickname. By any chance is your full name Felix?"

Lix: "You should see it! It's interesting! And no not at all, after my bias i kept my nickname! ❤️

His enthusiasm was infectious, a spark of joy I hadn't felt in ages.

Eva: "I will watch it when I get home. How's your day going?"

Lix: "Boring, honestly. Just waiting for my game to download. You?"

I quickly checked the clock; my shift would end in an hour. I felt a pang of sadness at the thought of leaving this brief escape behind.

Eva: "Just trying to get through the day. Can't wait to get out of here."

As the evening unfolded, the steady stream of customers provided a distraction, but my mind kept drifting back to the vlog. I finished my shift, my body exhausted but my spirit slightly lifted.

When I finally returned home, the oppressive weight of my father's absence hung in the air. He was likely at the bar, drowning himself in alcohol. I hurried to my room, locking the door behind me. I pulled out my phone and searched for the vlog Lix had mentioned.

With shaky hands, I clicked play and settled into my bed, eager for a respite from my reality.

(Let me warn you, uh the vlogs and songs timeline will be messed up. For example, Christmas Evel after Lose my breath. Vlog 4 after Vlog 1. This is Vlog 1 which he mentioned)

The guy named Felix who was the guy whom i mentioned at the video was going shopping. he got confused between the buildings. I saw how he hummed to an intense BGM and walked inside the store. I gasped at the size of the store, man that was huge!

Midway through the video, my phone buzzed again. It was Lix.

Lix: "What do you think? Pretty funny, right?"

Eva: "I love it! I just started but i think i like that guy, he is cute."

Lix: "Right? I thought the same! Are you into cute guys or hot guys?"

Eva: I am into cute guys. But i am open for some duality too i don't mind

My heart raced at the idea. But again, who would like a ugly girl like me? I have a paunch too for god's sake.

Lix: "Duality? Hmm. Are you dating anyone? A guy with duality?"

I hesitated, the weight of my reality crashing back down on me. I couldn't tell him the truth—not yet.

Eva: "Just... life stuff. I can't date yet."

Lix: "I get it. But you deserve to have fun, Eva! Don't let anything hold you back. Get a guy!"

His words wrapped around me like a warm blanket.

Eva: "Thanks, Lix. I'll hold onto that thought."

I spent the next hour watching vlogs and listening to music, losing myself in a world far removed from my own. Each video, each song, seemed to pull me further away from my reality. But as the night wore on, the door to my room creaked open slightly.

"Eva, are you in there?" It was my father.

Panic surged through me, and I quickly turned off my phone, tossing it under my pillow just in time.

"Yeah, I'm here!" I called back, trying to sound nonchalant.

The door swung open, and he stepped in, his eyes slightly glazed over. "What are you doing?"

"Just... studying," I replied, my heart racing.

He squinted at me, but then his attention drifted to the clutter on my desk. "You'd better not be slacking off, or you'll regret it."

"I won't," I said, desperate to keep the peace.

He nodded, stepping back out and closing the door with a heavy thud. I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. My heart was still racing, but I couldn't let fear win. I had to keep the connection with Lix alive.

I grabbed my phone again, but instead of feeling anxious, I was motivated.

Eva: "Hey, Lix, you want to keep doing those 20 questions tomorrow?"

Lix: "For sure! I'll think of some good ones!"

As I lay in bed that night, staring at the ceiling, I felt a flicker of hope amidst the darkness. For the first time in a long time, I felt less like a ghost in my own life and more like someone who mattered. I fell asleep with a smile on my face, dreaming of a day when I could finally break free from my shackles and embrace the life I longed for.
