Eva's head was buzzing from the events of the morning, though she tried her best to keep her face hidden behind her hair. Unfortunately, her friends were too sharp for that.
"Eva, what happened to your face?" Mina's voice was full of concern as she gently tilted Eva's chin up to examine the bruises. It was subtle, and Eva tried to pull back, but the slight discoloration on her cheek was unmistakable.
"It's nothing, really," Eva mumbled, shrugging off Mina's hand and giving her best attempt at a reassuring smile. "Just... clumsy me, you know?"
Her friends didn't look convinced. Dae, her childhood friend, gave her a look that said he knew better than to believe her but didn't press the matter. He nodded subtly, respecting her silence.
Breaking the awkward tension, Mina's eyes suddenly lit up. "Hey, did you guys hear about the JYP auditions?" Her excitement was contagious, making Dae and the others perk up.
"Oh my gosh, yes!" their friend Yuri chirped in. "They're finally open again! I was actually planning to sign up. You all know I'm a killer dancer!" She did a little spin, her eyes twinkling as she daydreamed about the audition.
Eva chuckled, grateful for the distraction. She watched as Yuri demonstrated her signature dance moves, pretending to be on stage in front of an invisible audience.
"What about you, Eva?" Mina nudged her, a mischievous smile tugging at her lips. "We've all seen you at those dance classes—you're actually good!"
Eva's eyes widened. "Me? No way. I'd probably trip on stage, and it would be a disaster."
"Oh, come on! Just one dance! A group one. Something like... ooo, SKZ's 'Maniac' would be perfect!" Yuri's eyes glimmered with excitement as she started singing a bit of the song, her enthusiasm sparking curiosity among the group.
"Come on, Eva, let's just see you do the hook!" Mina clapped her hands excitedly, already pulling up the song. Dae's grin widened, and before Eva could protest, the beat of "Maniac" filled the small campus room.
"Fine," she sighed, a smile sneaking up as she tried to contain her laugh. She did a few steps, the choreography coming back to her naturally as she hit the signature moves. Her friends cheered, and she felt her cheeks flush, but it was fun, and for a few seconds, she forgot about everything else. Yuri took a video of the whole thing.
"That was it!" Yuri said, her hands in the air like she'd just witnessed the best performance of her life. "Alright, I'm entering you."
"Wait—what?"
Yuri, being the tech genius of the group, had already pulled up the JYP website and started filling in details. "Name: Eva Kang. Age: 19. Talents: dancing, singing, rapping"
Eva groaned, half-tempted to wrestle the phone away but too amused to try. The energy in the room was infectious, and she couldn't help but laugh along with them. Yuri uploaded it with a click.
"There," Yuri said, satisfied. "You're officially signed up! Now you have to go through with it!"
Eva laughed, her shoulders relaxing as she shook her head. "Well, guess I don't have a choice now."
