I sat in the waiting room, my hands trembling as I stared at the floor. The harsh fluorescent lights above flickered occasionally, making everything feel even more surreal. My heart raced, and I could hear the nervous chatter of the other trainees around me, but it felt like I was in a different world, detached from the reality around me.

It was time for the elimination results.

Beside me, Olivia and Young-woo were doing their best to remain calm. Olivia kept twirling a strand of her hair, her fingers nervously tapping her knee. Young-woo was sitting a little straighter than usual, but I could tell he wasn't his usual confident self. The three of us had been through so much together since we joined the company as trainees. We'd laughed, cried, and worked harder than we ever thought possible to get to this point.

But now, it felt like all of that was on the line.

"Don't worry, Eva," Olivia said softly, breaking the silence. Her voice was low, but I could hear the concern behind it. "You've worked so hard. You've done your best. You'll be fine."

I smiled weakly, trying to reassure her, but I couldn't shake the pit in my stomach. I had seen the looks the judges gave me during my performances—some supportive, but others... critical. I knew I wasn't perfect, but I had tried. I had given everything I had. And now, it didn't feel like it had been enough.

Young-woo leaned over, placing a hand on my shoulder. "Hey, whatever happens, we're in this together. Don't forget that. We'll support each other, no matter what."

I nodded, swallowing the lump in my throat. "Yeah, we'll be okay." But even I didn't believe my own words. It felt like the silence between us was a reminder of how uncertain everything was.

The door to the waiting room opened, and the staff entered. The air seemed to thicken with tension. They were here. The moment had arrived.

One by one, names were called out. The sound of cheers, relief, and congratulations filled the room as the trainees received the news that they had made it through. But I couldn't focus on that. My mind was on overdrive. My name hadn't been called yet.

My heart pounded in my chest, every second stretching out like an eternity. And then... it happened.

The host stepped forward, holding the final envelope. "And the last name to be called today... Eva Kang."

My breath caught in my throat.

I hadn't made it.

The room around me seemed to go quiet. My body froze, and I felt a wave of dizziness wash over me. The cheers from the others seemed distant, like they were happening in a different world. I could barely feel my legs beneath me, and for a moment, it felt like I was suspended in time.

I hadn't made it.

Olivia's voice broke through my dazed thoughts. "Eva, no... this isn't the end. We'll still be with you. You've come so far already." Her arms wrapped around me in a tight hug, her warmth comforting, but I still couldn't shake the weight in my chest.
