I was babysitting Henry that night.
That night I got the call.
It was work, so I expected we had a case, casually answered it while I bounced Henry on my knee.
"Meet us at the address I sent you ASAP." Hotch says and hangs up.
I took Henry over to Katie's before driving to the location he had sent me. I pulled up to a cabin in the back woods.
'This can't be good.' I thought.
I pulled up beside Reid's car and got out. I went inside, seeing everyone gathered around a body. I furrowed my eyebrows, I was super confused right now. I saw Reid's face and my heart broke. He was in pain. I could see it. Morgan and Garcia ran in with worried looks on their faces. She was crying and she asked, "Are we sure?"
That's when Hotch said those words that tore my heart into two. "Yeah, it's Gideon."
I felt the life being sucked out of me and suddenly I was sick. I ran outside and puked in the bushes outside his house. I was crying and puking at the same time. I finished and sat down against the house, holding my face in my hands. I had got so close to this man during the period from which he solved my case. He filled the spot in my heart that my father was torn from. He made me feel human again after what happened. Morgan came out beside me. He puts an arm around me while I sobbed into his chest.
"You knew Gideon?" He asks.
I just nodded before bursting into more tears.
I saw Reid wipe his face and went over to him. He knew, he knew everything about me and Gideon. He made me cry more, I wrapped my arms around his neck while his slim arms wrapped around my waist, sobbing into my shoulder, I stroked his hair while he cried.
Gideon left Reid a note after he left the BAU. Only Spence though. He knew Reid would would come out and look for him after he didn't show up a couple days for work. The Team was heartbroken for days, until Hotch filled his place and Emily was added. I slipped on a pair of gloves and went inside. My eyes first lay on the chessboard. Gideon's the one who taught me how to play chess, of course I caught on quickly, surely start to beat everyone I played against. Gideon helped me discover my love for chess, he's the one who made me want to be in the FBI. I was planning on being a teacher beforehand but instead I studied things like psychology, criminology, essentials needed to become an FBI agent. I mastered them quickly of course, at the age of 24 I was working for the BAU.
I was looking at the different bullet holes, they are way out of whack. Gideon has great aim, I furrow my eyebrows, running my hands over the holes.
"Whatcha thinking genius?" Rossi asks.
"Just that the killer was standing here, Gideon was here," I step over to where Gideon would have been standing before he was shot. "Shot him in his dominant hand, then his abdomen, he just kept shooting, but Gideon has aim, but he managed to shoot all the way over here."
I place my finger on one hole way off of the Unsub. "What was he aiming for?"
I pick up a picture that must've fell and place it back to where it was. A bird with a hole right on the beak.
"I know what he's trying to say, come on, grab Reid." Rossi says and goes out to the car.
I see Reid walking around, admiring everything this man has. Gideon was his role model, his everything he looked up too. When he left, it ripped a hole in the BAU. It ripped a hole in everyone. I slipped my hand in his and he smiled smally at me. I pulled him into the car and sat beside him. Rossi drove for a bit before we came to a small building and Rossi went inside, down some stairs before coming for a small room and pushing open the door. There is a small office with a lot of files in it, old transcripts and computers. The computers with the newspaper articles.
