Sora's POV

In the dead of the breezy night, I stepped through the looming mansion's front door in my set of usual nightgown after returning from my lover's place and quietly strolled through the hushed living room, slipping away into the dimly lit corridor until I reached my door. I briefly glanced at the opposite door two doors away to my right. He's not back yet. Kim Taehyung had to board a plane right after the tournament for his work schedule with the elders. He didn't have time to confront me, so I quietly left the mansion to reside with my lover. Creak. I pushed the door to my room open and stepped inside. I should get enough rest before he returns— I abruptly paused once my eyes landed on a dark silhouette sitting in the darkness of my room. The curtains were wide open, allowing just enough silver moonlight to shine through the high arches, casting a deep shadow on his side profile as he calmly stared out the window.

The man slowly turned his face to meet my startled gaze as he sat in his button-up shirt, fitted trousers, and polished shoes, with his suit jacket on the side. Did he return early? What is he doing inside my room at this hour? I gripped my fist, standing stiffly and refusing to budge from my place as he held intense eye contact with me while playing with something sparkly between his fingers.

"I want to ask you where you've been, but why do I feel like I already know the answer?" He asked, his voice low and steady as he eyed me. He wasn't upset or angry like his usual self. The man is strangely... calm.

"I don't feel like arguing, so please leave-"

"I'm not here to argue, Sora. I'm here to speak with you, understand you, and I am doing my absolute best to comprehend your intentions," He sighed, slowly rising from the couch and stepped forward, one step after another, until he was towering over me with his blank gaze fixed on mine.

"You don't love me and I don't love you," I whispered while staring up at his stern face. Kim Taehyung stared at me for a solid ten seconds without uttering a word, then finally lowered his gaze to the item in his hand. I followed his gaze and glanced at the silver ring between his fingers.

"It is he, whom you love dearly. The man you've always held close to your heart. After all these years, even while you were apart, you've never once... forgotten about him. The owner of your heart is him," Taehyung spoke slowly while eyeing the cheap ring between his fingers and glanced back at me as I stiffly eyed the ring in his hand.

"How dare you snoop in my drawers—"

"At first... I confronted him while we were wrestling. How dare he seduce the woman who will be my wife? How dare he set his filthy hands on you? How dare he take away the woman I've worked so hard to achieve? You were mine by right... by legal law, you are bound to be my lover. How dare he attempt to take you away? The woman who's rightfully mine...? And then he spoke. 'Mine? Jang Sora? She was never Kim Taehyung's,' he claimed. 'Never mine.' Why? Because... you were originally his bride. Jang Sora... you're his bride," Taehyung scoffed softly while shaking his head in disbelief.

"You agreed to marry him, he claimed? I thought... how absurd? How could you agree to marry the man you've only met? I thought he was messing with me, so I struck him for speaking nonsense. Why would you choose that lowly bastard over me? You've told me you loved your former lover so dearly, and I could tell you still yearn for him. I told him... he and I... wasn't the owner of your heart. He laughed. He sneered and mocked me, so I threw the punches, hoping to shut him up, but he simply laughed, mocking me endlessly. 'Sora? Sora loves me to death,' he claimed, and then you came running to him, through the harsh storm. Crying... wailing... and bawling so pathetically," The man continued with his intense, dark gaze fixed on me.
