Aiko & Heeseung
The air was heavy with tension as the group moved cautiously down the corridor. The dim emergency lights flickered, casting jagged shadows on the walls, and the faint growls of the neomorphs echoed ominously. Every step felt like a risk, every corner a potential ambush.
Heeseung led the way, his weapon raised and his senses on high alert. Aiko was close behind, her breathing shallow but steady. Her mother followed, her usual cold demeanor softened by the undeniable fear etched on her face. Jake, Sunghoon, Jay, and Sunoo brought up the rear, their expressions grim as they scanned the hallways.
"Two more floors," Heeseung muttered, glancing over his shoulder at the group. "Stay close. If we keep moving, we can—"
A sudden crash from above cut him off, followed by a chilling screech. The sound reverberated through the corridor, sending a shiver down everyone's spine.
"They're coming," Jay said tightly, his finger twitching near the trigger of his weapon.
"No kidding," Jake quipped, though the fear in his voice betrayed his attempt at humor.
"We keep moving," Heeseung said firmly. "Don't stop. Let's go!"
The descent was grueling. The group fought their way down the final two floors, their weapons cutting through waves of neomorphs. The Genentech guns proved effective, but the sheer number of creatures was overwhelming.
They reached the first floor with their energy nearly spent, their clothes soaked with sweat and streaked with grime. Heeseung pushed open the stairwell door cautiously, peeking into the corridor beyond.
"It's clear," he said, though his voice carried little relief.
The group filed out, their movements tense and deliberate. The hallway was eerily silent, the only sound the hum of the emergency lights.
"Where's the security room?" Sunghoon asked, his voice hushed.
Aiko's mother glanced at a map on her wrist tablet. "Down the hall and to the left. It's not far."
"That's what you said two floors ago," Jake muttered, earning a sharp glare from Sunoo.
"Focus," Heeseung snapped, his gaze scanning the hallway.
They moved as one, their weapons at the ready. Every step felt like walking a tightrope over a pit of vipers.
As they neared the end of the corridor, a loud crash erupted behind them. A vent cover slammed to the floor, and a neomorph dropped down, its glowing eyes locking onto the group.
"Move!" Heeseung shouted, firing his weapon.
The group scattered as more neomorphs emerged, crawling out of vents and shadowy corners. The corridor erupted into chaos as the creatures attacked from all sides.
