Heeseung
The monitor started beeping erratically.
Fast. Shrill. Unforgiving.
Her heart rate was climbing — spiking — like her body was trying to outrun something it couldn't escape. At the same time, her blood pressure dropped dangerously low.
Aiko's body lay limp on the cot, sweat clinging to her skin, her face pale and unmoving.
Yuna's eyes flew to the screen.
"Her blood pressure's crashing!" she shouted. "She's going into shock—"
Everyone surged forward at once.
"W-What do you mean shock?" Jake stammered, nearly tripping over his own feet.
"Yuna, what do we do?" Sunghoon demanded from across the room, his arms tight across his chest, panic bubbling in his voice.
"I'm trying!" she snapped, already grabbing the emergency bag by her side. Her gloves were slick, her fingers trembling. "Get me saline — and bring the damn thermal blanket, now—!"
Jungwon was already on it, sprinting across the room and tearing open the emergency cabinet, grabbing whatever Yuna called out without hesitation.
Ni-ki stood frozen for a moment, eyes locked on Aiko's still form before he forced himself to move, dragging a chair closer to the table in case Yuna needed support. His hands shook as he reached for the blanket.
Jay clenched his jaw. "How many vials left?!"
"Two," Yuna hissed through gritted teeth. "Just two more — but if her body gives out—"
Heeseung wasn't hearing a single word.
He was at her side.
He never left.
One of her hands was in his — clammy and cold. Too cold.
"Aiko," he whispered, brushing damp strands of hair from her forehead, his thumb stroking her knuckles. "Aiko, wake up. Please, come on."
She didn't stir.
The monitor's tone pitched higher.
He tapped her cheek gently, just like before. "Hey. No. Don't do this. Don't check out on me now, alright? We're almost done. You're so close, baby. So close."
Still nothing.
Heeseung's voice cracked. "You said you'd be okay..."
"She's going into full circulatory shock," Yuna muttered through clenched teeth, hanging the IV with trembling hands. "We need to stabilize her — now."
"Yuna, she's not waking up!" Heeseung's voice rose.
"I know," she snapped, her voice high with desperation. "I know. I'm trying. But she needs to fight back too — her body's giving out."
