"Are you sure you know where you're going, Sherlock?" Kevin spat as we rounded the same hallway of the sewage plant for the fifth time.
The only reason we were here was because Kevin swore up and down there was DNAlien activity in the area. The informant he got that information from, a buddy of his he refused to name. And now, we were stuck in this darkened building that stunk trying to find any trace of the said DNAlien.
All we found so far was footprints that looked a lot like the forked ones that belong to the DNAliens.
I groaned, stopping and leaning against the wall as Ben whirled on the black-haired teen. He bared his teeth, sticking his chin up defensively. Gwen joined me at the wall, though refused to lean against it, instead folding her arms over her chest with a glare directed at the boys.
"For once, can you close your mouth and open your eyes? Just follow the footprints." Ben shot back.
"Would you both be quiet? There could be a guard or something." Gwen spoke up.
"If there was a guard, wouldn't we have been caught yet?" I crossed my arms, raising a brow at Gwen. She rolled her eyes in turn.
"I'd swear that alien made it here." Ben spoke up, rubbing at the back of his head and looking around the space.
"Well, there's no sign of him now." Gwen mumbled.
"Whoo-hoo-hoo!" Kevin suddenly exclaimed, we all turned to see him bent down and picking a weapon from the ground. "Another toy for my collection!"
"Really?" Gwen muttered, folding her arms over her chest.
Kevin smiled brighter, as if that could sway Gwen to let him keep the alien weapon that had been abandoned.
"Haven't you learned from the first time your stash got stolen from?" I sighed.
"Hey! It won't happen again. I tricked out my ride for it." Kevin argued.
We all stared at him.
"Okay, maybe not. But it won't happen again." Kevin shrugged.
Ben took a step forward, pointing at Kevin with a nasty glare. "If it happens we will take the rest of your toys too." Then he turned and started down the hallway. "Now let's go find something to eat, I'm starving."
The three of us followed, watching as Kevin tossed the gun in the trunk and than loading up. Ben and I sat in the back, holding hands as we left behind the plant and hit the roads back into town. Kevin humming happily behind the wheel.
"I'm just saying," Gwen started up again, "That (Y/n) has a point. The weapons could be stolen again, or there could be a tracker in it, or-"
"But isn't the bad guys coming to us making our job easier?" Kevin asked. "With Ben's little obsession for finding them, it could totally be worth it."
"That's not the point!" Gwen shouted, the same time Ben cried, "I'm not obsessed!"
"You kinda are." I mumbled.
"Am not!"
I rolled my eyes, letting them drift to the outside buildings speeding by.
"Point is, keeping the weapons and other junk-"
"Hey, what I collect is not junk!" Kevin shouted. He slammed on the brakes at the intersection, throwing us all forward in out seats.
"Sure seems like it!" Gwen shot back just as white shots of light streamed past the car and hit a incoming truck.
Ben and I instantly sat forward, all of us watching in muted shock as the truck tipped but didn't fall over. Instead it wobble on, the diver losing control and failing to win it back. It spun out, the oil rig hooked to it swinging wide and heading right for the gas station parked at this section.
