I sat on the toilet in the garage flipping through a book but not really seeing the words on the page. Instead my eyes were narrowed on Ben in suspicion as he brushed his teeth over the sink.
In the garage I could here Kevin working on his car, but it didn't really matter to me.
Not after Ben surprised me this morning, earlier than he ever got up, by wrapping blankets around me in a oval shape. I had blinked open my eyes in confusion, Mom standing in the door looking confused but refusing to actually step in.
When she had caught sight of me awake, she went to take a step in, but stopped at Ben whirled on her angrily, hissing about the perfect nest of blankets he was trying to make.
After that I was up and getting dressed trying to get Ben to not stick to me like glue as I did. After that I dragged him back to his house, and here and now he was brushing his teeth happily while checking to make sure I didn't move from my spot.
Something is up with him. Is it the watch?
Ben finished up, but paused after. Poking at his mouth, he reached in and pulled out a shiny, sharp piece of metal.
"Where'd this come from?"
"I knew it!" I hissed, standing up and pointing at him.
He looked to me in confusion. "What?"
"Something is happening! Ugh, probably the watch." I began to pace as Ben watched me in growing concern. He reached out with both of his hands, trying to herd me back on to my spot all while ignoring the metal he dropped into the sink.
"Hey, hey, let's calm down, yeah?" He soothed.
"You should be panicking more." I shot back.
"I am! Just more worried about you at the moment. Do you need a blanket? Food? To lie down?" He hurried to check me over, turning my face this way and that with upmost gentleness.
I whacked his hands away with a scowl. "See? You aren't acting normal."
He tilted his head confused. "Taking care of my significant other isn't normal?"
"No! I mean, yes. But how you're doing it isn't normal."
"How."
"Coming into my room and dragging every blanket you could find into my room to pile on top of me."
"You looked cold. I can't have you-" Ben paused, green eyes going wide. "Oh."
I nodded. "Excessive worry."
"We should tell Kevin and Gwen." Now Ben was looking beyond panicked, eyes darting around as he now began to pace.
I stopped him, picking up the metal piece. "Let's calm down, then go out there with our first piece of evidence."
Ben frowned, "You think I'm panicking? I am nothing but calm." He spat it, then snatched the piece and left the bathroom.
Okay?
Gwen was just leaving the garage as we approached Kevin. Which left her to be told at a different time. Instead, Ben and I went over to Kevin as he looked down at a little pamphlet with rising fear.
"I cannot stress enough the importance of flossing." Ben started as Kevin nodded his head absently. He showed the bit of metal. "I found this in my teeth. I think something might be going on with my powers."
"After I pointed it out." I folded my arms over my chest, joining Ben's side.
Kevin nodded at the both of us, mind clearly elsewhere as he finally looked at us. "Uh-huh, what do you two know about girls? I mean you guys must know something since you're dating."
