Kevin honked the horn of his car as we sat outside Julie's house. His sigh of exasperation drawn out and dramatic.

The sun was setting, and it was getting dark quick. But that didn't matter when the mall was opened late, and the movie theaters were still playing horror movies late into the night.

Finally, just a normal night where I get to hang out with my friends.

Kevin sighed again. Loudly.

"Stop complaining! You agreed to drive us." I said, sitting up from where I sat in the backseat. I smacked the back of Kevin's head, ignoring his yelp of pain and turned to Gwen instead. "So, you excited?"

Gwen brightened, "You bet I am! We haven't had a night out since the last attack."

"I know. We deserve this break." I raised a hand up in triumph.

Gwen laughed.

A knock on the window had us looking over. There, standing with a awkward little wave, was Julie. She smiled when we waved her in. Gwen slid over into the middle, making room in the back for her to slide in as well.

"Are you ready to shop?" Gwen asked, practically bouncing in her seat.

Julie smirked. "Gift cards from Grandma, I am totally ready."

"I also brought homemade snacks my mom made!" I raised up the tin filled with cookies.

We all shrieked with joy.

But Kevin had to ruin it by wincing and then whirling on us angrily. "Okay, no shrieking in the car."

"No promises, sometimes we're gonna shriek." Gwen shrugged, still smiling brightly.

Julie added in more slyly, "Yeah, like you and Ben do when you're watching football."

"We do not shriek!" Said the shrieker. He coughed as soon as he saw our raised brows, holding his head high as he repeated. "Uh, shriek."

"Just get driving loser." I kicked the back of his seat, another glare was sent my way.

"These are nice seats! Do not kick in my car."

I mocked him, deepening my voice and delivering another kick to his seat. He grunted, whirling around and snapping his hands at my legs which I tucked close to my chest. More giggles burst from me as he gave up and sat forward again.

"I will kick you out of this car." Kevin said, but he sounded weak willed to me. "Anyways, I'll drive you to the mall as promised, but I'm not hanging around and watching you shop."

"That's okay. You're not invited." Gwen shot back.

Kevin started the car and began the drive.

The three of us in the back turned to each other eagerly.

"So, anything new?" I asked.

Gwen and Julie instantly turned to stare me down. "Yeah, you and my cousin." Gwen snickered. Julie smiled over her shoulder, a tease in her eyes.

"Come on, out with it. Tell us all about it." She demanded.

"Huh?"

"Tell us how it's going between you and Ben." Gwen explained.

I felt heat rise to my head in a rush. I pursed my lips. "Uh, anything else we could talk about?"

Julie shrugged. "Not really. Plus, you gotta give some of us advice." She nodded her head at Gwen.

It was the redhead's turn to blush, green eyes darting all over the place. "Nuh-uh!"

I smirked, caving instantly if only to bother Gwen with my advice. "Well, first things first is you have to be bold." I snickered as Gwen grew redder still. "Actually, I wasn't bold until the first date." I shouted the last two words at the back of Kevin's head. His ears grew red.
