Ben 10: Alien Force (Reader insert)

Alone Together

Author note: sorry about the shorter chapter. I try to make up for it with a bit of lore, but I really just wanted to get to the next episode because that one introduces Albedo and he's fun to write.

Why's it always a warehouse? Couldn't they at least take over a water park or something?

I wanted to bang my head against the wall as the Highbreed fired at us with its fingers. The warehouse lighting up in red after each blast. But the alien had horrible aim and so never hit any of its targets.

Even the ones which foolishly didn't take cover behind any crates, Ben.

The brunet raced through the space, barely avoiding the zaps as he raced for where I was hiding behind my own crate. The Highbreed hot on his tail....Not cause the alien criminal was trying to make a run for it.

"It's trying to run! Cut it off!" Gwen called out.

Kevin leapt into action, quite literally as he dropped from the top of the runway without any material armor. Throwing his arms around the Highbreed's neck, he struggled to stay on as it shook like a rabid dog.

"Let go!" I shouted.

"I got it!" Kevin called back just as he was thrown from the Highbreed. He hit the ground hard, too stunned to get up as the Highbreed turned to continue the fight.

"I've got it covered!" Ben cried out at my side, leaving our hiding spot behind. He activated the watch and in a flash of green became Echo Echo. Duplicating on the spot, Ben surrounded the Highbreed easily, tossing out a taunting word between copies. "Going somewhere?"

The Highbreed knocked two Echoes aside, leaping into the air and landing behind Kevin again. Apparently labeling him the weak link. But it came with a protective girlfriend as Gwen fired off shots of mana that threw the alien back.

"You get it Gwen! Protect your man!" I cheered.

"(Y/n), knock it off and come help us!" Gwen shot back.

"Okay, okay!"

Kevin was also laying in to Ben as he absorb stone, "Nice going, Mr. 'I've got it Covered'!"

"Seriously, what is up with you two today?" Gwen groaned.

I shrugged as I leapt out from behind the crates, catching on of Ben's eyes with a wink. "What can I say, we were busy." Many of the Echoes ducked their heads, suddenly nervous.

Kevin and Gwen deadpanned. "We did not need to know that." Gwen rolled her eyes.

One of the Echoes spoke up, "It was just making out!"

That's not true! I was teaching Ben to bake! Flashes of the burnt to black cookies flashed through my mind. I shivered.

Kevin, taking it seriously, burst into laughter, pointing at Ben as the others crowded around the main one. "I can't believe you just admitted to it! Now I got blackmail if I ever need it."

"Like you have room to talk." I grumbled, hooking a thumb at Gwen.

The redhead exploded in red, sputtering. Kevin pulled the same move, stumbling over his words in an attempt to explain himself. But all that came out was something about a car and him being married to his work.

I laughed as Ben and his copies moved off to stop the Highbreed by all of them piling on top of the alien.

"Don't touch me, creature!" The highbreed snapped, struggling under the weight. He still was able to stand, reaching out for a ring of rock hooked up to all sorts of technological bits and pieces.
