"Good morning!" Veronica jumps into my bed and I just want to curl up and go back to sleep. I miss Ethan and I don't even wanna go to class today.
"I'm sleeping." I groan while burying my face into the pillow. The scent of Ethan surrounds my senses and I smile into the pillow.
"You've got English in twenty minutes, though!" I groan again and flip the blankets back and step onto the cool hardwood floor.
"Why're you in such a good mood anyways?" I ask Veronica and she smiles big.
"My brother is gonna visit soon!" I've heard a lot about Veronica's brother. His name is Vince and they're twins. She's shown me a couple of pictures and they look a lot alike, that is before Veronica dyed her hair. Now they just look like normal sibling.
"Great. I can't wait to meet him." I smile at her while throwing a simple white dress over my head. Today is one of those I'm-not-wearing-pants days. I slip on my brown sandals and run my fingers through my hair. Last night Veronica curled it and now it's wavy since I slept on it.
"Are you going to Casey's party tonight?" She asks as I shove my books into my bag.
"No, I think I should stay home."
"Why? So you can lay around moping about Ethan being all the way in Florida? C'mon, Chlo, that's no way to spend your Friday night."
"Ugh fine I'll go," I finally give in.
"Good! Now get to class!" She pushes me to the door. When did she become my mother?
"Hey there!" Ryder greets me and I smile.
"Hiya!" I match his enthusiasm.
"Are you going to Casey's party tonight?" He asks.
"Yeah, Veronica is making me go." I sigh while writing down some notes.
"Why is she making you go?" He asks while shuffling around in his bag for something.
"She thinks I'm gonna be depressed tonight if I stay there alone since Ethan is back in Florida." I admit.
"Ah, I see. Well, you deserve a good night out to have fun." He gives me a smile and I nod in agreement. I guess I should go out tonight and have a little fun.
Ryder and I go our separate ways as class ends and I make my way to the courtyard. I flip open my All Quiet on the Western Front book and take a bite out of the delicious apple I grabbed before I left the dorm.
"Hello," Kyle sits down beside of me. Is meeting at the courtyard becoming part of our daily schedules?
"Hey," I say softly while continuing to read.
"Your wounds look better," he smiles at me and I nod.
"Thank you." I wish he would just leave me be. I'm trying to read my book for English.
"Are you okay?" Kyle asks. I fold the corner of my page and close the book.
"I'm trying to read." I state firmly. I hate when people ask questions when they know the obvious answer.
