"Pizza is ready!" Everyone jumps up from their seats in the living room and rushes into the kitchen, greeting Veronica with hungry stomachs. Thank God for Veronica being Italian, she makes some bomb homemade pizza!
"Damn Colton chill, you act like you've not eaten in twelve years," Evi says, making everyone laugh as he loads five slices of pizza on his plate.
"You're right. You're right." He puts one slice back, leaving four on his plate. Evi rolls her eyes and nudges him in the side with her elbow. Her ring glimmers in the light. They're perfect for each other.
We all take our seats in the living room and turn on a movie. I munch on my pizza and observe my surroundings. Everyone is laughing and smiling and in this moment I realize how wonderful and simple life can be. Spending time with the people you love and having a good time is the best thing ever. It is my happy place.
"Oh look, there's Colton!" Ethan says as a large man on the tv screen piles his plate full of food. Colton laughs and then so does everyone else. I'm not sure what movie we're watching but it's pretty funny. I scoot closer to Ethan and place my plate onto the coffee table before lying my head on his chest. He wraps his arm around me and rests his hand on my thigh. I'm quickly engulfed by his scent. Pretty soon Veronica and Evi are lying on their boyfriends too. Well, Evi is lying on her fiancée. Wow, that's so weird to say. It's definitely going to take some adjusting.
After more laughter and jokes, the movie ends and everyone sits up. "What should we do now?" Kyle asks and Veronica winks at me.
"Let's all play truth or dare!" Veronica speaks up and I roll my eyes. I haven't played truth or dare in a long time. I've never really liked that game but I guess I could play along this one time.
"I'm in," Ethan says without hesitation. Quickly after, Evi, Colton, and I agree to play. Veronica begins by asking Evi first.
"Truth or dare?"
"I'm going to have to go with truth," she says and everyone groans.
"You're such a baby you should've chose dare." Ethan says and Evi rolls her eyes.
"Bite me." She says sarcastically flipping him the bird. Ethan smirks and Veronica finally comes up with a question.
"How old were you when you had your first kiss and who was it with?"
"Probably eleven, possibly twelve, I think. It was with this boy who lived beside of me. His name was Trey but a few years later he turned out to be gay."
"Holy shit!" I blurt out and everyone looks at me with confused expressions.
"What? What's wrong?" Evi furrows her eyebrows toward me.
"Wait. Does he still live in Florida?" I ask her first, making sure not to jump to conclusions.
"Actually he moved up here to New York two or three years ago. His dad lives in New York. He use to live with his mom in Florida but his mom passed away of cancer so he had to move to New York with his dad." Evi explains and I nod, taking in the information.
"Do you happen to know if he's dating anyone?"
"Why? You thinking about dumping Ethan and turning Trey straight?" Evi takes a jab at Ethan and he shakes his head, sighing loudly. They fight worse than an old married couple but it's all in good fun. They both know how to take a joke without getting butt hurt.
