Blake's pov:
Everything is just way out of control now. Just this morning I was patching things up with Kate and we were making up for lost time when, the next thing I know, I learn of a daughter I never knew about and my father has come back from the dead. On top of that, he has killed all of the experienced warriors that I had in the pack. All that I have left is myself and couple of other wolves while the rest are fighting for their lives. The worst part of this is that my father implied, and I know it to be true, that he can come back whenever he wants and he's gonna have me tripping for that to happen. He's the one with the advantage and he knows it too.As I walked through the halls before I got to the hospital area where Robbie, Alec and the rest of my family was, I saw the looks in the eyes of the women that had lost their mates, the children that had lost their fathers and I could see how had I failed at preventing that from happening. They might not think I care, but the weight of that responsibility weighs down on me more than they know. They have put their faith in me for four years and they rightfully expected me to rise to the occasion at a time like this, but I know that I didn't.
From now on, I know that my father is going to do a mind game on me. My father is going to sit back and watch me do whatever I do or do not do. He's probably waiting for the pack itself to turn on me, and by the looks I've received already, I know it's already happening. After that, he's going to go after the ones I love – Kate, Damian...Ivy.
If I know him correctly, his war against me is psychological and he's gonna watch me suffer, but not kill me. He'll make me live without the ones I hold closest to my chest...of course that is if I let him anywhere near them. He's already playing games with Kate. He could've killed her but he didn't. He's got me unwillingly playing the game too because I'm too scared to do anything else.
After the chat with Kate, Robbie and Alec, I walk out of the room, trying to figure out what I need to do. I mean, obviously there's twenty or so warriors...mates, fathers, brothers, sons, that has to be mourned over the next week. I have to make all of the arrangements for that. I also have to check who are still fighting for their lives and how to keep the pack safe from any more attacks from the woods. I sigh deeply to myself as everything is just piling up when Kate walks out of the room too and walks over to me.
- Are you okay?
She asks. I almost find myself smiling to myself, but in reality I'm just broken...
- Do I even have the right to be okay? I failed everyone...they all looked to me to take care of them and I failed to protect the ones that kept the rest of the pack safe. The worst part is I don't know what to do because I'm...I never prepared for something like this.
I answer. Kate immediately grabs a hold of me.
- You could never have prepared for this no matter what. You did the best you could with what you knew and the time you had. You couldn't know your father would be out there doing these things...
I shake my head.
- The moment I realized what was going on, I should've pulled them all back and protected them. More people would still be alive and I...I should've fought him where he was standing. Now I've given him the initiative.
I let out in light frustration as I notice some of the people in the hospital area are looking at us. Kate is trying to get me to ignore them, but the looks in their eyes are way too hard not to be affected by. They have probably lost someone close or are seeing injuries that they never would've had to deal with if I had just protected them even better.
- Blake, if you had challenged him, the pack could be standing at an even worse position than it is right now because if he...if he had killed you, he'd be the Alpha of the pack. You talked about what a monster he was when you were a child. What about now? Nothing's changed. Also, I would've lost my other half and you know I've almost been there once before and I did not like it. I don't ever want to be there again.
