Damian's pov:
- Come here, boy! There's a big man back there. He's coming to get me. I keep trying to find places to hide, like behind couches, underneath tables, but he tears everything apart. He breaks all of the furniture that I use and removes the chairs to see my legs. That's when I crawl out of my hiding spot and start running.
- You can try to run and hide all you want, but I will find you!
He calls out in my direction as I run up the stairs. I barely stumble past the last step as I make it to the first door. I bang on it hard before I come to think that I should be as quiet as possible. I can find a good spot and hide away from him, but then I have to be quiet. That's my only chance of him not finding me.
I run towards the next door and it's also locked. Panic is slowly arising in my chest as I run towards the next door and the one after that, all with the same issue – they're locked. The heavy footsteps from the big, scary man is coming closer and closer. He's not playing the game right. He's supposed to give me a chance to hide!
- Come here, little Damian. Your grandfather only wants to have a little fun with his grandson...
- No...
Tears are appearing on my face as I say that word to myself. The intensity of the moment is getting to me. The big man is getting closer and he's super-scary. I heard stories about him and none of them were good. They were all about how he hurt my daddy when daddy was just as old as me. I'm afraid. I'm scared...
- Oh, come here, little one...
He's closer to me now. As I fail to open the last door, I turn around and slide down as my legs give way. I cover my eyes as I go into a panic-state...
- No, don't hurt me, please!
I jolt awake, all covered in sweat as I notice nobody's coming to calm me down.
- Mum? Dad?
Nobody answers as I start to notice that something is out of place. There are several things actually. The bracelet around my wrist that is keeping me locked to the bed, the brown ugly carpet covering me and the moment I remove that...God, it becomes so cold! I gulp loudly as I look around me.
- Mummy, daddy? Ivy?
Still nobody answers my calls. I see these black metal things surrounding me, I think they're called bars. I immediately start to shake because I'm so scared. I don't know where I am, but I know it's not home. If I was at home, it would be warmer and my mum and dad would be sitting right beside me. Also, Ivy would be sitting next to me. But instead, I'm here...I don't even know where here is.
Suddenly, I start hearing footsteps coming closer and closer. They sound heavy, like the ones I've heard in my dreams and I immediately pull my knees closer to my chest. Could it really be him? Is it really the big, scary man from my dreams? In the far end I see light penetrate the darkness down here and I hear more footsteps. After a moment his feet becomes visible to me...a few more moments, and I see his face...
I sense something form in my throat when he walks towards me. He grabs something on the way and places it on the other side of the bars. He looks at me for a moment before sitting down. I start shaking even more and I feel even colder than before. It's either cold or the fact that he scares me. It's both. I think it's both.
- You look a little pale there...Damian.
He knows my name! That's even scarier and the goosebumps are as big as monsters. They're intense! I swallow harder and harder for every second that passes. He's just looking at me for some reason.
