CHAPTER THIRTY EIGHT:
they grabbed her body even though she was unconscious and got in scott's truck. marcie and scott sat in the back with her while malia and lydia sat up front.
"this can't be real. it can't be her. she was cremated." scott said.
"she looks pretty un-cremated to me." malia said from the drivers seat.
"she's not just un-cremated. she's literally been reconstituted out of thin air." lydia said.
"so that wasn't in the instructions?" malia asked.
"no it was not." marcie said.
"i got a question. what do we do when she wakes up?" malia asked.
"if she wakes up." lydia said.
malia drove them to the hospital and scott carried allison inside.
"we need some help. mom, we got a problem." scott said walking up to his mom.
"she looks just like allison. why, scott, does she look exactly like allison?" melissa asked her son.
"you really want to know?" scott asked her.
"just get her inside." melissa replied.
"okay." scott said following behind his mom.
-
"i checked her vitals. everything's normal, at least normal for a woman who's been dead for 15 years." melissa said.
"maybe we should cut her open and then see if she's normal inside." malia suggested.
"not exactly how medical treatment works. but thanks for the suggestion." melissa said.
"how do we know she's okay? i mean, not just physically but mentally?" lydia asked.
"how do we know this is allison? hm? really allison?" melissa asked.
"that's the thing..." marcie said.
"we don't. this wasn't exactly part of the plan." lydia replied.
"maybe our first step is simply talking with her. since she doesn't appear to be injured, we're probably okay to try waking her up." melissa said.
"mom?" scott said looking at allison's room.
"yeah." melissa said turning to him.
"i think she's awake." scott said seeing she wasn't in bed anymore.
-
"allison. allison. allison?" scott said looking for her.
"where the hell does she think she's going?" malia asked.
"she's probably slightly confused." lydia said.
"shes supposed to be slightly dead." malia said back.
"too soon." marcie told her.
"split up. if you find her, yell." scott said as they all went different ways.
