Chapter 9: Coffee Shop

Charlie's POV: I woke up to a text from Anna and decided to respond. I mean it's still early in the morning. She's not going to respond this early.  I get up early in the morning for basketball practice. I don't like getting up early, but it's worth it to play the sport I love. After I got ready to go, I decided to make a smoothie. Anna texts me back, it's 6am, why is she up so early? 

Anna: You know I'm glad the universe made us meet each other 

Me: For sure. I wouldn't want it any other way.  

Anna: Are you flirting with me Charlie? 

Me: You started it 

Anna: I didn't, what. I didn't. 

Me: Sure 

Anna's POV: I was not expecting Charlie to text me early this morning, but here we are. I was getting ready to go to the coffee shop, then head to class. I wanted a smoothie. I have three classes today, which I'm dreading. 

Me: someone is sassy today 

Char: ugh go away 

Me: wow 

I finish my smoothie and head to classes a little early. As soon as I reach the building, I got out my laptop and started on some assignments. The assignments were pretty easy. I looked at the time, it was time for class. This is going to be a long day. After four hours of classes, they were done. I got out early from my last class, because the professor had to leave for something. I go to the coffee shop for coffee this time, I text Charlie. 

Me: I'm dreading these assignments 

Char: You want me to come to the coffee shop? 

Me: Not if you're at practice. 

Char: Someone's sassy and no I'm not at practice. 

Me: I'm not sassy, that's you. You can come, but you don't have to if you don't want to. 

Char: you're cute when you do that, don't worry I'll be there. 

I put my phone down and started on my assignments. It didn't take long for Charlie to get to the coffee shop. I see him and he sits down. 

"Did they cancel practice", I ask looking up from my computer. 

"No, we convinced coach to end practice early. Only if we do a longer practice tomorrow for the game", he said. I looked back down at my computer. 

"I won't see you tomorrow at all", I said sadly finishing up my discussion board.

"Yeah, we leave in two hours", he said. 

"Ok", I said. 

"I'm sorry. I got to go. I'll text you later, promise", he said. 

"Bye Charlie", I said. I watched him leave the coffee shop. There was a girl in the coffee shop who was one of my classes. She sat down at the table I was sitting at. She's always at this same coffee shop too. 

"You're in one of my classes", she said. 

"Yeah", I said. 

"I'm Avery. Who's that guy you're always with and are you guys dating", she said. 

"Charlie and no we're not", I said. 

"He seems to really like you", she said. 

"No definitely not", I said. 

"Denial is a river in Egypt, I've seen the way he looks at you, like it's just you two in a room", she said. 

"Sure, but I don't know", I said. 

"If you like him, then go for it. He seems genuine", she said.

"Yeah", I said.

I exchanged numbers with Avery, she seems nice. We both left the coffee shop around 6pm. I went back to my apartment and had some dinner. After dinner, I was watching tv and saw that Charlie texted me. 

Char: Hey babe we made it to Memphis. 

Me: You're flirting again? 

Char: yeah so what. only for you.

Me: fine. I miss you. 

Char: I miss you always. 

Me: stop 

Char: stop what 

Me: making me blush 

Char: wow I make you blush 

Me: Not my fault you're cute

Char: You're cute.

Me: I'm going back to watching tv. Bye. 

Char: Bye

He is absolutely ridiculous. This guy has me folding for him. It was about 8pm for me. I was getting ready for bed because it was about bedtime for me anyway. I thought about what Avery said. Charlie really does like me. I like him a lot, but I'm scared he'll leave me for someone else. I'm so out of his league. If he actually really does like me, I would date him. All the "dates" we have been on have been so fun and magical. It's so different when I'm with Charlie then anyone else. I plug my phone in and fall asleep.
