"Hello?" Adeline was woken up by the sound of her phone ringing. Quickly picking it up she answered to be met with the voice of Stefan. A very frantic Stefan.
"He escaped." She knew he was talking about Damon. Her lack of an answer made Stefan scrunch his eyebrows. He then released a sigh. "He convinced you to let him out?"
"More like tricked but yes." Adeline sat up in the bed. "I should've called but I figured you had enough on your plate with Elena."
"It's fine." Stefan sighed. It didn't sound fine. "I need time to get Damon's daylight ring and if I don't get it quickly his next stop is Elena's."
"Yes?" Adeline was failing to see why Stefan had called her. "How does this involve me though?"
"I need you to distract Damon until I can get the ring." Stefan admitted. "You guys have this weird thing and for some reason he won't hurt you so please? Just until I get the ring?"
It was a lot to think about but Stefan was only in this situation because of her. She let out a sigh as she stood up to get dressed. "Okay. Yeah I'll do it. Just call me when you get the ring."
Adeline hung up and let out another large sigh. She threw on some leggings and a loose crewneck. She picked up her phone calling Damon.
It barely rang once before Damon picked up. "Blondie?" Damon asked overly excited. Clearly having fed to get his energy back. "Are you calling to tell me you have my ring?"
"What? No." Adeline shook her head feigning confusion. "I don't have your ring. I was actually calling to uhm." Adeline bit her lip. She was not gonna like this. " to tell you were right earlier."
"Well that's no surprise I usually am." She could hear his smirk through the phone. "But what was I right about?"
Adeline rolled her eyes. "It wasn't against my will."
Before she could say anything else Damon's voice came from behind her not through the phone. "Oh," he laid down in her bed with his hands folded behind his head. "Continue."
"I wanted you to do it." She hung up her phone and threw it on the bed next to him. She made her way to the side of the bed and stood next to him. "I still want you to do it."
Damon's smirk widened as he propped himself up on one elbow, his piercing blue eyes locking onto hers with an intensity that made her stomach twist. "Well well well blondie." He drawled his voice dripping with amusement. " didn't know you had it in you to admit that."
She didn't either. She crossed her arms her eyes narrowing at him. "Don't make me regret it."
He chuckled sitting up fully in front of her and leaning closer towards her. His hands laid on his thighs but he wanted to reach forward and grab her. "Regret? I don't think you'd regret anything we'd do together." His words were smooth, confident, but there was a flicker of something deeper. Curiosity, intrigue, maybe even disbelief that she was saying these things to him.
"Don't get too cocky, I'm just testing a theory." She said tilting her chin up.
Damon raised an eyebrow. Clearly entertained by her. "A theory? Care to share with the class?"
"Maybe," Adeline shifted forward ever so slightly. "Maybe once I know for sure I will."
Damon's smirk grew as his head tilted. He was studying her with that unrelenting gaze of his. "what exactly are you testing here blondie? Whether or not you can resist me?"
Adeline tried to hide her smile but failed. She rolled her eyes even though her heart was pounding rapidly. "Something like that."
"You're stepping into the lions den here, blondie." Damon teased his voice low and smooth.
