"You said you would explain everything. That's why I asked you guys to meet me here." Adeline sat at the table shifting uncomfortably as she sat between Elena and Stefan. "When you google vampire you get a world of fiction. What's the reality?"
"I'll tell you whatever you want to know." Stefan said his face showing how genuine he was being.
"I know you eat garlic." Elena said after a moment.
"Yes."
"And somehow sunlight isn't an issue?" Elena asked.
A waitress finally came up and placed three mugs on the table before walking away. Adeline stirred her coffee absentmindedly as Stefan continued.
"We wear rings that protect us." He showed of the silver ring on his finger.
"Crucifixes." She tilted her head.
"Decorative."
"Holy water?"
"Drinkable." Stefan leaned closer to her as she continued.
"You said you don't kill to survive?" Elena matched him with leaning in too.
"Animal blood keeps me alive but not as strong as strong as Damon. He can be very powerful." His eyes flickered towards Adeline who was looking anywhere but the table in front of her.
"And yet you let him get involved with Adeline?" Elena tilted her head towards the girl that now was looking only at Elena.
It was Adeline's turn to lean forward now. "Elena I haven't done anything that I haven't wanted to do. Stefan is not at fault here."
Elena didn't seem so convinced. "You wanted a giant bruise from Damon. Or for him to attack you.""He never attacked me, Elena." Adeline sat back avoiding eye contact with Stefan as she looked around. "It's complicated."
"Damon doesn't have the ability to compel Adeline." Stefan revealed. "Anything they did she was of clear mind."
Well she wouldn't exactly say that but none the less she nodded along.
"Is that supposed to make this okay?" Elena raised her voice as she started at the two in front of her.
"No no Elena none of this is okay." Stefan leaned forward and attempted to grab her hand. She pulled back slightly. "I know that." Stefan sat back dejected.
"Are there any others aside from you and Damon?" Elena then turned to Adeline "and what are you?"
"Not in mystic falls, not anymore." Stefan shook his head.
"As far as I know Elena I'm just like you. I get these visions sometimes of things that happened in the past." Adeline swallowed. "My family's past but I'm just like you. Well except for the fact I can't be compelled. "
Elena nodded slightly. She then turned to Stefan. "You said not anymore?"
"There was a time when mystic falls was very much aware of vampires." Stefan swallowed. "And well it didn't end well for anyone. That's why it's important that you don't tell anyone."
"I can't promise that."
Stefan leaned forward once more. "Elena, give me today. I will answer any questions that you have and when it's over you can decide for yourself what you wanna do with what you know. But please just give me today."
She nodded slightly and stood up from the table. She walked slightly away giving Stefan time to turn to Adeline. "I'm sorry that I asked you to distract Damon last night. I hope he wasn't to hard to deal with."
