Per usual Damon played heavy on Adeline's mind. She couldn't get the thought of him biting her out of her head. She knew she should be scared, should be running for the hills but for some reason she couldn't. She liked the idea of the thrill that Damon brought. It was bad idea, yes, but she liked it. She liked the feeling Damon brought her when he was around. Dangerous or not. She knew he atleast had some humanity in him. Something that kept him from killing her.
Adeline felt like a zombie as she walked into the front door of the school. She felt like someone scooped out her brain and chucked it half way across the country and placed a cd of Damon in her skull instead. A repeating loop of his face in her mind.
Adeline walked past Elena and Bonnie, trying her best to avoid the former. She didn't want to hear the million questions that Elena would inevitably ask her.
"Adeline." Elena called out. Adeline paused with a sigh she looked toward the ceiling before turning around with a fake smile.
"Hi Elena." Before elena could respond Adeline turned and made way for the classroom. She couldn't face looking at Elena right now. She knew she'd wanna tell her every bit of the truth if she did.
It was when she sat down in her seat for history that Stefan began speaking from beside her.
"I'm sorry about what happened at the party." Stefan rubbed the back of his neck. "I shouldn't have used you as bait like that."
Adeline's eyebrows scrunched together. Bait? Everything that happened was out of Adeline's own free will. Except for the vervain. She had pulled Damon to her. She had practically begged him to do it. And now he probably thinks she knew about the vervain.
"It's fine. I wasn't really bait." It was Stefan's turn to furrow his brows.
"I basically drugged you and used you to lure Damon in and you say it's fine." Adeline rolled her eyes as Stefan chuckled.
"In case you didn't realize, I let him bite me, Stefan."
"Why would you do that?" Stefan studied her face as he spoke. She didn't even have to answer before Stefan's eyes lit up and his lips parted. Instead of saying anything he opted to sit in his seat and ignore Adeline's presence for the rest of the class.
When the bell rang she gathered her things quickly and rushed out to avoid Stefan. Although she knew she wasn't going to be able to avoid Caroline as easily. Today was the annual car wash fundraiser and Caroline was super excited about it. As Adeline made her way for the door a hand shot out and grabbed her arm. It was Caroline, of course it was.
"You need to be here tonight at 4, you are gonna be here aren't you?" Caroline asked quickly.
Adeline pulled her arm back and nodded. "Yes I'm gonna be here. Why wouldn't I?""Well i don't know I just thought with the whole Damon thing..." Caroline trailed off.
Adeline bit her lip. "What Damon thing? Nothing happened and I told Elena it was just a misunderstanding."
"Did you sleep with him?" Adeline thought for a minute, if she lied and said yes Caroline might stop prying, but if she told the truth and said no Caroline might think something else was going on.
It took Adeline a moment but she spoke up. "Just don't say anything. I don't want anyone to know."
"Adeline!" Caroline shrieked. "I can't believe you wouldn't tell me!"
"It's not a big deal. It was only once." Adeline left it at that. "I'll see you later."
Caroline's jaw hung open as Adeline walked past her. Of course Adeline had lied but she hoped it would keep Caroline from digging deeper. She already had Damon under her skin she didn't need her friends prying too.
By the time Adeline made it outside the brisk air seemed to clear her head. Damon Salvatore was dangerous. She knew he was. Everyone knew he was. But he was magnetic and it was pulling Adeline closer than she liked to admit.
She made her way to her car with a sigh. She looked down to pull her keys out of her bag when she caught a glimpse of someone in her car. Her breathe caught in her throat when she realized it was Damon. She rushed forward ready to yell at him but when she reached the drivers door, he was gone. No where to be seen.
Adeline looked around confused before getting in her car and taking a long needed deep breath. It took a while to collect her thoughts but when she did she was home and in a very hot shower.
She stood under the hot water and let it wash all of her worry and thoughts away. No more Damon. No more vampires. No more supernatural.
She couldn't stand how insane Damon was making her feel and now she was seeing him. When she knew he was locked up? At this point she was gonna need to move and change her name, so she never saw Stefan or Damon again. She knew she wouldn't be able to stay away but it helped to think and the what if.
"Adeline." A whisper of her name caused her to spin around quickly. She peaked her head out of the shower door. No one. She pulled back into the shower and layed her head against the wall.
She was going insane. It was official. The presence of Supernatural had broken her.
She got dressed quickly in a bikini and a pair of shorts that she didn't even bother to button. She threw her hair in a quick braid with ribbon at the very end. She knew Caroline would be a nuisance if she showed up looking like a slob. So she attempted to look her best for the car wash.
Once she was there she sat next to Caroline at the cash table. She hummed along with the song until Elena joined them and Caroline began to give her the same spiel she had gotten when she first got here.
"No friend discounts, no freebies, no pay you laters. We are not running a charity here." Caroline pointed her finger at Elena as she spoke. Stefan appeared behind Elena and Adeline did her best to avoid eye contact or even acknowledge that Stefan was here.
"Hi." Stefan said to the trio of girls. Elena got up excitedly and walked over to him.
"Hey!" Elena greeted with a sweet smile.
"Uhh." Adeline began to chuckle as Caroline started as she knew where this was going. "The event is called sexy suds, you know?"With that Caroline turned back to Adeline. "So haven't you talked to Damon since then?"
Adeline shook her head. "Uh he left town." Adeline grabbed some cash from one of the customers that walked up to her.
"Left town?" Caroline questioned. "That's a shame. He was so hot."
Adeline shrugged doing her best to not think too much about Damon. A sudden scream from across the parking lot drew Adeline's attention away from the cash register.
"What the hell!" Tiki shouted as she waved the hose around. Adeline's eyes drifted over to Bonnie who was standing beside her eyes locked on to her. Adeline's eyes narrowed for a moment at Bonnie's intense focus.
Adeline stood up from the table. "I'm gonna go grab some more towels." Caroline nodded absentmindedly placing cash in the cash register before turning to another customer.
Adeline let out a sharp whistle that gathered Stefan's attention. She walked over and stood by his shoulder as she whispered lowly. "Keep an eye on Bonnie, something is off."
He just nodded slightly. He didn't attempt to even say anything in response to the blonde. Adeline gave a short nod before making her way inside the empty school to find more towels.
She hummed lightly as she walked to the janitors closet. It slowly trailing off as she felt like something was off. Like something was stalking her. She shook it off and continued her way to the closet.
A whoosh of air brushed against her before she heard the voice. "Adeline help me." She spun around quickly. In her face right there was Damon. His skin was sickly pale and his eyes were sunken in. There was no way he was here. Stefan dealt with him. He shouldn't be here.
