Once they were stopped inside the boarding house Adeline slapped his shoulder. "Don't ever do that without warning again."He rubbed his shoulder and made a pouty face. "Yes ma'am." But before she could turn to leave he grabbed her and ran her upstairs.
Adeline barely had time to process what was happening before she was in what she assumed to be Damon's room. Her back was to the door and Damon was all too close in front of her. She would've cursed under her breath if Damon wouldn't have heard.
"Damon what the hell?" She snapped.
He smirked, but there was a flicker of something else behind his eyes. "Relax blondie, I just need your undivided attention."
She could definitely give him all her attention. "You didn't need to pull your vampire-speed kidnap routine to get it."
"You're saying you would've fully listened to me downstairs." Damon deadpanned.
Adeline smirked now. "Probably not but here we are so what do you want?"
Damon stared at her for a moment looking like he was debating a million things. "Be careful."
"Really Damon? You brought me up to your bedroom to tell me to be careful?" She shook her head. She went to reach for the door handle but Damon's hand landed ontop of hers.
"I'm serious. Vicky she's..." Damon started but Adeline interrupted.
"Oh Damon Salvatore telling me a vampire is dangerous." Adeline giggled a little.
Damon bit out. "I'm serious Adeline." At the mention of her name she straightened up and nodded her head. "Newborn vampires are dangerous. And she's not like you, she's impulsive and right now she's got a hunger that she only knows how to satiate one way."
"It wouldn't be that way if," she poked at his chest. "You didn't turn her."
He stared at her for a long moment before speaking. "You're jealous."
Adeline laughed. Loudly. "Jealous? Jealous of what exactly?"
Damon leaned in closer. "That I turned her and not you."
"Why would I be jealous of that?" Adeline's hand itched to just turn the door handle and walk out but she couldn't. "You ruined her life."
"That girls life was already ruined before I did anything." He shrugged.
"I like my life the way it is Damon," Damon stared at her tilting his head to the side slightly.
"Do you?" He took a step forward causing her to step back.
"Yes I do." She didn't sound so sure this time.
"Then why do you offer yourself up like a little lamb everytime you get the chance?" Damon smirked as Adeline's mouth fell open with a loss of words.
Adeline quickly shut her mouth. Muttering a quiet, "I don't." She knew it wasn't true though.
"No?" Damon smirk only grew. "Then was it my charm that had you tilting your head so sweetly at the founders party? Or were you just feeling generous?"
Adeline swallowed but for the first time she didn't know what to say. He was right. She did offer herself up to him. Almost every time she could. And maybe she was a little jealous. Even if she did like her life the thought of Damon turning Vicky did pang a bit.
"I won't turn you." Damons smirk was gone and Adeline didn't have to search his face for any sincerity. It was plain as day across his face.
Adeline's throat felt tight but she forced herself to let out a scoff. "Good." She muttered lifting her chin. "I don't want you too."
"Then why do you look so disappointed." He murmured.
She took in a sharp breath. Her fingers curling into fists. "I don't."
Damon's lips twitched but there was no humor in it. "Right." Damon leaned his head even closer to hers. "If only you knew how many times I thought about turning you. Everytime I get my lips on you it's all I can think about." His hand traveling up her arm until his fingers danced along her neck. "One little snap of your pretty neck and I could have you all of eternity."
"You wouldn't." Adeline's throat tightened but it wasn't from fear. "You wouldn't."
Damon's eyes darkened at the thought but then they softened. "No I wouldn't."
"But.." she started but then cut herself off. Damon's eyes were hopeful as she spoke. Instead of continuing she swallowed hard, grabbed the door handle and walked out of the room.
Damon didn't follow her.
He just stood there frozen in silence. Staring at the door like it might swing back open. Like she might change her mind. But the echo of her footsteps down the hall told him she wouldn't.
And why should she? Damon knew of his plan to bring back Katherine. So why did he want to have Adeline so bad? Why did he want to be with her and not the girl he'd waited for since the day he died?
