"Gorgeous. Fascinating. Delicate. Graceful. Dazzling. Stunning. You're not just beautiful, Grace. You're bewitching and so fucking divine." - Book
"Corgito Ergo Sum." - Quote
"You make me glow, but I cover up won't let it show." - Song
Ms. Narwin announces. "We're going to have debates!"
"Yippeee!" I exclaim.
"Such a nerd!" Pedro groans.
"Shut up."
Did Malik just stand up for me? Okay, hubby.
"Me?" Malik asks. "Are there going to be biscuit and tea teams like last time?"
"No, Malik. It's going to be girls versus boys.-"
I howl. "Woohoo!"
"Oh my gosh, yeah!" Leah squeals.
Evelyn and Ava look really unbothered, amused but relieved.
"Bro, we're cooked." Malik shakes his head and sighs.
"It's okay, Malik. We'll be here for you." Ava replies.
"Okay, into your teams. The question as it says on the board is that "Has Covid-19 made the world more progressive or had it turned it into a more dystopian one?' Twenty minutes of planning. Pedro and Sinamika?"
Pedro responds. "Yes?"
"Rock, papers, scissors. Whoever wins gets to choose." She answers.
Pedro wins but chooses that Covid-19 has made the world more progressive. "No! Pedro!" Malik yells.
Pedro signs the universal surrender motion as Ms. Narwin screams, "Go!"
We start preparing with me, Leah, Hijana and Ava speaking.
I lay on my stomach, on the ground with my team while writing Hijana's speech as Malik walks over to me and motions for me to go backwards.
I don't obey.
"I hate you." He's about to grab me by my ankles and pull me backwards but the teasing stares from his friends make him falter.
Evelyn smirks and pulls me by my ankles as I start giggling and Malik groans.
"Malik! Come on, you should've just pulled her and pinned her down, man." Tyke grins.
Habeel teases him. "What made you stop? I mean, you sounded tortured when Evelyn pulled Siyana."
"Kinky." Hazza mumbles.
I yell at Hazza. "I heard that!"
Moments of discussion pass by as our teacher approaches us. "Are you guys ready?" She asks.
"Yeah. Are they?"
"No, but we'll give them around three minutes, Siyana."
I nod. "Fine."
Three minutes pass by and we sit down.
Me and Malik walk over to the front. "Chocolate milk!" Pedro screams.
"I'm Malik and we think that the pandemic, COVID-19 has made the world more progressive due to it raising awareness in people and helping a lot of people with their immune systems. My following teammates will be elaborating more about the statistics." He states.
It's my turn to go. "Hello, I'm Siyana from the opposing team and we - my team - believes that COVID-19 has made this world into a more dystopian one due to its poll on mental, emotional, psychological and physical health of the common society." I say. "How are we expected to have basic social skills when we don't go out and speak to people, person to person. I do acknowledge that it has raised awareness in people but at what cost? At the cost of our mental sanity."
