Story:

Tim's POV:

Tim paced back and forth in the living room, glancing over at Lucy who was calmly sipping her coffee on the couch, her pregnant belly rounding out beautifully. She was seven months in, and every day his concern for her seemed to grow.

"Babe, I really don't think you should be going into the station today," Tim said, running his hand through his hair. "You're just getting so big and—" he cut himself off, pointing at her stomach like it was some kind of ticking time bomb.

Lucy rolled her eyes, setting the mug down and crossing her arms. "Tim, I'm fine. I'm not made of glass. I can still do my job."

He shot her a look, then moved closer, his hands hovering around her like he wanted to help her stand up, but he wasn't sure whether she needed help or if he was just being... well, Tim.

"Lucy, honey," Tim started, trying to soften his tone. "What if something happens? What if you slip or—" He cut himself off again, shaking his head. "I just don't want you to get hurt."

She let out a breath, her lips twitching as she fought back a smile. "Tim," she said, standing up with a playful huff. "I'm not an antique vase you need to keep in a display case."

"But—"

"No buts," she interrupted, walking over to him and grabbing his face in both hands. "I can still do my job, I'm not planning on getting into any shootouts today, and I've got plenty of people looking out for me. Including you. Which, I'll admit, is a little excessive, but I appreciate it."

Tim blinked and looked down at her hands on his face, his heart warming. "You're sure? I mean, I could... I could call in a few favors and get you the day off. Just so I know you're safe."

Lucy raised an eyebrow. "You're really going to pull rank on me? You know I can't resist your charming authority."

Tim smirked, leaning down to kiss the tip of her nose. "Of course, I have *all* the charm. You know you're the only one who can resist it, right?"

She snorted, pushing him back playfully. "Yeah, I think I've grown immune. But thanks for the offer. I'm still going in. And I promise I won't let anyone accidentally bump into me and cause a scene."

Tim sighed, stepping closer to her again, his lips curling into a soft, teasing smile. "If you do, I'm calling in backup. I swear, Lucy, I'll bring in the entire precinct to give you an escort to the car. They can form a human shield."

"Oh, really?" she said with a grin, "A human shield? I'd love to see that. Maybe you'll get the whole team involved and we can have a little 'protect the pregnant lady' parade."

Tim's face lit up with an almost devilish grin. "That... actually sounds like a great idea." He cupped her face in his hands now, pressing a series of soft, quick kisses to her forehead, cheeks, and then her lips. "But seriously... just be careful today. I don't want anything to happen to you or the baby."

Lucy chuckled, giving him a look that said she was both amused and slightly exasperated. "You're a big softie, you know that? But fine, I'll be careful."
