Run, is all the boy could do as inhuman snarls were heard from behind.

Tears shed down the boy's face as he cried in distress. He didn't want to die. He has heard of the brutal deaths many infected animals have done to some innocent Steves. The boy tries his best not to trip on any obstacles but it was futile as he trips over a tree root that was well hidden by the tall grass. He squeals and quickly flips onto his bottom as he watches an infected cow approach him.

Its mouth is wide open, too wide like any normal cow, with razor sharp teeths and twisted limbs. Lifeless eyes stared at him as bones stuck out almost everywhere with red liquid and black ooze coming out of its hides where the bones punctured out. The once normal brown cow with white spots was now a big horrific multi legged creature.

It shrieks loudly, causing the young boy to hyperventilate and scream, as the creature was about to bite his head off until something stopped it. Someone had come to the little boy's rescue. They stabbed an iron sword deep into the head of the creature as it gurgled before it collapsed onto the ground dead. Black ooze seeped onto the ground, leaving a puddle underneath the mutated creature.

Quickly withdrawing their sword from its head, he grabs the young boy and lifts him over his shoulder before sprinting away from the scene as more inhuman shrieks were heard deep within the forest.

Minutes go by and they finally arrived at a hidden outpost where most people wore white armor and some cowering in white tents. They lowered the kid onto the ground, who immediately went straight to a green haired person with a worried expression. While they watched as the little boy was embraced by his worried parent, one of the armored beings approached the heroic person who saved the little boy.

"General Light was looking for you." He huffed out exhaustedly.

They pulled the hood of their cloak off from their head, revealing to be a young adult with brown hair and a black blindfold. He could hear the tiredness in the guard's voice.

"You should get some rest, send someone to take your place." He instructed and the guard nodded hesitantly.

He makes his way into camp and approaches a tent that was a bit bigger than the rest. Entering it, his eyes landed on a white haired person with white armor and angelic wings, talking to 3 other armored people who had their helmets on still. They were discussing the situation that already unfolded days ago.

The blindfolded adult cleared his throat a bit, catching all of their attention and pulling it away from a big map on the table. The white haired person signals the 3 guards to leave and they do so immediately, walking past the blindfolded person, leaving both of them there.

"Sabre," The white haired person said, "Where did you go?" His voice hinted with concern for the younger man.

"I couldn't help it but heard the pleas of someone's father.." The brown haired person spoke quietly as he approached the avian man. "I went looking for his son out there."

"And risking your life?" A hint of anger was presented in the avian's voice. His heterochromia eyes stared at the blindfold on Sabre's face. "We've lost many to this virus, losing you won't make things any easier to brace."

"Well I just saved a kid's life so you're welcome, Light!" He snapped at the taller man and immediately bit his tongue.

Light noticed his snappy attitude, he's been like this a few days ago and Light doesn't know why. "Sabre. Just.. I don't need you to cause more trouble, alright?" Light's tone became soft, "I.. Already lost my brother... I can't lose you now.."

'You have Scout.' Is all Sabre thought bitterly in his head.

"Sabre, I'm serious." He saw him frown a bit, "I don't want to lose anyone else, especially you. You may be a non-steve to many, but you're my friend." He placed a hand onto Sabre's shoulder and squeezed it slightly, "So please, don't do anymore reckless stuff.."

Sabre quickly bit his tongue from snapping out again and nodded. Something stirred within him, an urge that he's been fighting back for a long time now, something he's been hiding from the others.

Light pats his shoulder lightly and walks past him. He paused and looked behind. "Sabre? I've been meaning to ask you something, have you been feeling alright?"

His words made him tense up, "Yes, yes I have Light. What makes you ask?"

"... Just.. You've been acting a bit weird lately.." He spoke quietly.

A moment of silence was exchanged between them.

".. Just.. tired.. That's all.." Sabre exhaled tiredly.

"Ah, then get some rest, Sabre. I'll discuss the plan with you tomorrow."

Sabre didn't have time to protest as Light already left the tent, leaving him alone with his thoughts.

Alone..

The blindfolded man exhaled in relief as he took deep breaths while leaning against the table. The hunger stirred restlessly inside of him. The urge to kill and consume. He ruffled his hair and even pulled a few strands as his breathing quickened.

He can't. Not now. Not ever.

He swallowed a lump in his throat as he gripped his hair tightly.

"Not now not now not now.." He mumbles under his breath.

Hunger.. The hunger was getting to him.

He's infected. He's always been infected since day 1. He's been biting himself on the hand to restrain himself from going on a rampage. Blood. Blood, flesh, screams. His hand balled into fists as he gritted his teeth. In a way to restrain himself, he pulled the leather glove off of his right hand and bit hard into it. The taste of iron overwhelmed his taste buds and he enjoyed the taste.

Finally, he stops biting his hand and licks the blood up that flows from his wound before wearing the glove again. The bite wound stung like heck, along with his other previous bite wounds he's made on his hand. He's been doing this ever since, to sustain himself and prevent himself from killing innocent Steves.

The thought of him grabbing Light and stabbing him with his sword while biting his neck and ripping a huge chunk of flesh- He shakes his head immediately. He doesn't want to think about that, killing his own friend in a place he called home.

He rubbed his arms as the thought of being an infected in the outpost with no acknowledgement is extremely dangerous. He just hopes that his little dark secret remains a secret.

.

He just hopes there's a cure to reverse the infection that flows through his veins..
