The morning of Daisuke's wisdom teeth removal had finally arrived, and despite his usual stubbornness, you had successfully convinced him to drink pineapple juice—something you swore would help with the swelling post-surgery.
Standing in the kitchen, you watched as he sulked dramatically, holding the glass up like it was some sort of punishment.
With a deep sigh, he took a sip, his face unreadable at first.
Then, his brows raised slightly, and he smacked his lips."Damn... this is actually pretty good," he admitted, tilting the glass to take another sip.
"Told ya."
He scoffed at your triumphant tone but kept drinking, finishing half the glass in one go.
You checked the time on your phone, your casual morning comfort shifting into urgency."Alright, let's go. We have to be out the door in fifteen minutes—
your appointment is in fifty-five,
and the drive there is far."You turned to move, but before you could take a step, his arms snaked around your waist, pulling you flush against his chest.
His warmth seeped into your back as he buried his face in the crook of your neck, pressing lazy, featherlight kisses against your skin. The faint scent of his cologne—lingered, making it momentarily difficult to focus.
He hummed in contentment, his lips curving into a smirk against your neck."Mmm... don't wanna go yet,"
he murmured. You rolled your eyes but couldn't help the way your body melted slightly into his touch.
"Daisuke,"
you warned, tilting your head slightly. "We don't have time for this. Go get ready."He groaned in protest but didn't let go right away. Instead, he tightened his hold slightly, swaying the both of you side to side as if that would change anything.
"What if I just skip it?
My teeth feel fine today.""Oh? So the constant complaining and 'ugh, my jaw is killing me' all week was just for fun?"
You snorted. He huffed, finally letting you go, but not before sneaking one last kiss on your shoulder.
"Fine, fine. But if I say something embarrassing later, I'm blaming you.""Oh, I'm counting on it."
You grinned, grabbing the now-empty pineapple juice glass from his hand.As he made his way to get dressed you shook your head, already preparing yourself for whatever chaos was about to unfold.
After getting ready you returned to the kitchen, stretching your arms above your head before making your way over to the coffee maker. The rich aroma of coffee filled the kitchen as you grabbed a mug, watching the dark liquid drip steadily into the pot.
You absentmindedly tapped your nails against the counter, glancing at the clock.Still had a little time before you had to physically drag Daisuke out the door.
You moved around the kitchen, tidying up random things—pushing in chairs, straightening out the stack of mail by the counter, adjusting the fruit bowl even though it didn't need adjusting. Just something to keep busy.
