Taniya's pov

It had been three weeks since we moved here. Three weeks of unfamiliar walls, of unease settling in my bones like an unwelcome guest.

Shoaib's behavior was anything but normal. His reactions-detached, restless-didn't sit right with me. But my thoughts were too burdened elsewhere to dig into his mystery.

Rubab bhabhi.

When bhai told me about her miscarriage, a hollow ache filled my chest. She was too young, too fragile for this kind of loss. My heart clenched at the thought of what she must be enduring. *Ya Allah, why her?* She didn't deserve this. No one did.

But something about Shoaib's reaction unsettled me more than I cared to admit. The moment he heard about Rubab bhabhi, something in him shifted-like a switch flicked off, leaving behind only a shadow of the man I once knew. His silence was thick, almost suffocating, but I couldn't afford to dwell on it. My body was already betraying me in ways I didn't understand.

Since we arrived, I could barely keep anything down. Every bite of food turned against me, leaving me retching until exhaustion claimed me. And now, a dull ache had settled in my lower back, creeping in like an omen, whispering that something was *wrong.*

I convinced myself it was just the food. Maybe my body wasn't used to it. Or maybe it was the endless hours of work weighing on me, breaking me from the inside out. But deep down, a fear I couldn't name began to coil in my chest.

Then came the night everything shifted.

I woke up drenched in sweat, the pain in my back sharper, more insistent. My stomach twisted violently, sending me rushing to the bathroom yet again. My legs trembled as I clung to the sink, trying to steady myself. I dared to look in the mirror, and what I saw in my reflection wasn't just exhaustion. It was something else. Something deeper.

And then it hit me.

My breath caught in my throat, my fingers going numb as realization sank in.

No.

Not here.

Not now.

I staggered back, my heart pounding as I tried to process the truth staring me in the face. The nausea, the fatigue, the back pain... It all made sense now.

I was pregnant.

And just like that, the ground beneath me wasn't solid anymore.

Shoaib's POV

I don't know why the heck I feel emotional when she steps into my apartment with me. I used to live alone, always waiting for the day when Shreya would walk in with me. But reality is too harsh—I am now bound to Taniya, the sister of my enemy.

I don't even understand why everyone is accepting him like he never kidnapped my baby sister and forced her into marriage.

Just because he turned out to be Abraham Ahmad's long-lost nephew, it doesn't justify his previous deeds.

Allah knows how many things that bastard forced upon my sister.

And here I am, stuck in my cruel fate, starting a new life with his sister. may be it was my punishment for fooling her.

I don’t even know why the heck I said those words to her, but I did. God, she’s playing with my mind.

It’s been three weeks since we came here. I’ve been busy with office work, ignoring her as much as possible. Though my need for her is intensifying, I don’t know why I can’t take any step forward.
