Shoaib's pov
Dawood was safe.
But my wife wasn’t.
And safety meant nothing if her eyes weren’t here to meet mine.
I kissed Dawood’s forehead as he slept in my arms, but his little body twitched now and then.
Shock.
Fear.
I knew the signs—I lived with them for years.
He mumbled something in his sleep.
“…maa…”
And my heart shattered again.
Rubab took him gently from me, laying him down in her room.
Then I stood.
Burning.
And walked out into the cold marble hallway where the guards stood lined up.
Each face paler than the last.
Each one useless.
But one—
One was trembling more than the rest.
I grabbed him by the shirt and slammed him against the pillar.
The others didn’t dare move.
Even Shahjahan Maa didn’t stop me.
She watched from the prayer room—silent.
Like she wanted answers too.
“You,” I hissed. “You were at the back gate.”
“S-sir, I—”
“Don’t lie. We checked the logs. It was you. Now speak before I break your jaw.”
He whimpered. “She… she walked out, sir. Calm. Holding that man's hand. "
My voice broke. “She was kidnapped!”
He shook his head violently. “She… she looked at me. Sir, the way she looked… like she wasn’t even there. Like her soul was asleep.”
I froze.
That’s when it clicked.
“What did she say?” I asked, softer now. Deadly.
He swallowed hard. “She said… ‘He promised to meet my baby. I have to go now.’”
My chest caved.
“Did he touch her?”
“Only her back. Guided her in. Like she was… broken.”
I dropped him.
The guard crumpled to the floor, sobbing. “I thought maybe it was family. She seemed so sure—so quiet. I didn’t think—”
“No,” I said coldly. “You didn’t think. You watched a mother walk into a nightmare, and you did nothing.”
He shook violently. “I—I’m sorry—”
But I was already walking away.

In the war room, Danish stood with Taha, Abraham, and two tech experts.
The CCTV footage had been scrubbed. Every backup deleted. But Taha was working like a machine.
“She left exactly at 4:13,” he said. “Footage restarts at 4:20. That’s seven minutes. The entire abduction was less than that.”
