Shoaib's pov
"Mujhe khula chahiye, Shoaib."
Her words sank deeper into my heart. I thought I had misheard her.
"What are you saying, Taniya?"I asked, grabbing her cheeks and caressing her jaw.
**"Mujhe talaq de dein aap,"** she said, looking into my eyes. Her blue eyes, which reminded me of her bastard brother, looked full yet lifeless.
**"Are you out of your mind, biwi? Who asks for a divorce just because their husband comes home late?"** I asked, caressing her gently.
I convinced myself it must be her mood swings. Maybe our baby was really troubling her in the womb.
**"Shoaib..."** she began, but I cut her off.
**"Shoaib ki jaan, itni narazgi theek nahi hai. Let's take your medicine and rest,"** I said and got up to bring her medicine when her next words halted me in my tracks.
**"Aapne jhoot bola Shoaib. Mujhe nafrat hai aapse,"** she said.
My eyes met hers, and her words pierced me.
**"Ye kya keh rahi ho Taniya? Kya jhoot bola maine?"** I asked, trying to hold her cheek, but she leaned back and looked at me.
**"Aur kitna khel khelenge aap? Mujhe talaq chahiye Shoaib. Main is gandagi ko apne andar nahi palne dungi,"** she said, tears filling her eyes.
My mind exploded hearing her words. Did she really call our baby filth? Was she talking about abortion?
**"What the heck are you saying, Taniya? Why the hell are you calling our baby filth?"** I asked, unable to hide my anger.
But my anger turned into confusion when I saw her chuckle bitterly.
**"Aur kitna jhoot bolenge aap? Kuch to khuda ka khauf karein,"** she said, wiping her tears.
**"Kis jhoot ki baat kar rahi ho tum? Haan, maine ye pregnancy chhupayi because you are too weak and had complications,"** I said, coming closer.
She laughed bitterly again, and her next words shattered me.
**"Aap jaante hain na ye gandagi gunah ki nishaani hai,"** she said, pressing her palm tightly on her belly.
**Gunah?** Did she...? No. She can’t know.
**"Kaisa gunah, biwi? Do dafa nikah hua hai hamara,"** I said, cupping her face and wiping her tears.
My heart ached seeing her so broken.
**"Hamara nikah ek hi dafa hua tha, Shoaib. Aur ye gandagi,"** she grabbed my hand and placed it on her belly, **"ye zina ki nishaani hai. Aap mere shauhar nahi the us waqt,"** she cried.
Unintentionally, my palm pressed gently on her womb. Was our baby hearing all this?
**"Taniya... ye sab..."** I tried to speak, but she cut me off.
**"Mazeed jhoot na bolein. Mujhe khula chahiye. Main kisi se zikr nahi karungi in baaton ka. Bas mujhe chhod dein,"** she pleaded with tear-filled eyes.
**"Taniya, hamare alawa kisi ko nahi pata in sab baaton ka. Hamara baby haram nahi hai duniya ki nazar mein,"** I said desperately.
Just the thought of her leaving and our baby being aborted stabbed my heart.
**"Shoaib, meri nazaron mein ye bachha haram ki nishaani hai. Aur main is zina ke anjaam ko duniya mein nahi laungi,"** she said, taking a step back.
**"Taniya, please don’t say this. It’s our baby. I was just angry at your brother. I wanted to play with his sister just like he played with my princess,"** I blurted out the truth.
