So with this, I pranced off in an unknown direction, having no idea as to what to do next. But sure as hell, I was not just going to sit and wait.

Chapter Seventeen: Guess Who?

The house was quiet. Mr. and Mrs. Greene weren’t up yet, so I decided to get the fire going in the fireplace. Having no experience whatsoever about fire, I soon gave up in fear of damaging something and now fidgeted around the drawing room.

The last time I ever I was this angry, was way back on the day of my first kiss. Lord Eckhart’s eldest son, Eustace, an ugly duckling of the whole family who was thirteen at the time started chasing me around the house. I hated him. So I ran. He ran after. And we both ended up in his mother’s sunroom. He smiled an evil smile and I glared at him.

“Let me out!” I ordered.

He just laughed and came to where I stood. One second he was laughing, the other his oversized, dry lips were all over my face.

“Ewww” I pushed him onto the floor, grossed out.

I fled from the room and started crying until my mother took me home. I was furious for the rest of the week, and since then I never saw the poor chap again.

But this anger, seemed to be growing inside me, ballooning into something gigantic. I was fuming. The next time I was being introduced to somebody, my presentation would be: Hello, I’m Thekla Moore, running away from home with a strange man I barely know who supposedly rescued me from marrying a seventy-year-old Duke, and that’s not all at all! I am the future queen of England, and I found that out just five days ago. And now I am residing in Scotland with my kidnapper, you are welcome to visit!

No wonder I was fuming.

I took the liberty of going into the kitchen, not being able to withstand myself. I boiled the water and put it in the teapot, accompanied by tea. I let it set for a while and then I poured it in a little tea pot. I wrapped myself in the delights of the hot drink, letting the steam caress me for a while.

I watched her leave, stomping off in the direction of the house. She was angry. And she had every right to be. I have to tell her. She’s more confused than ever. She’s lost. I can’t do that to her, I can’t hurt her.

I couldn’t get carried away.

Yet she looked stunning today in that dress. I just wanted to be close to her. To wrap my arms around her and tell her it’s okay. Tell her the truth.

I heard the cows’ impatient cries from the stable. I walked towards the building, and saw Pop step out of the dawning shadows.

“Mornin’ son.” He said, walking towards me and slapping me on the shoulder.
