❝ i'm running back home to you. ❞

"Cec, meet Beatrice. Beatrice meet Cecilee, my best friend and engineer." I introduce them as Cecilee steps on the dock, holding a bag of sushi I told her to stop by and get.

Cecilee is probably the softest, kindest, sweetest person on this earth. And Beatrice is not far from that. They kind of have that in common.

Cecilee smiles saying hello to the brunette. Cecilee is also the shortest person on earth. Even shorter than Liv. And Beatrice is quite tall.

"Woah, you're pretty." Beatrice says as she shakes Cec's free hand. Pretty is an understatement to what Cecilee is. She's genuinely one of the most gorgeous people I have ever seen.

Cecilee chuckles. She's aware of her beauty, she just gets awkward about it very fast. "Thank you." We walk back to the front and take our seats on the couch, Cec joining on the couch facing us.

We open the sushi and spread everything out on the table and the three of us slide down to the floor to eat more comfortably.

When we start digging in, Cec speaks up. "You talk to Charles yet?" She asks, mouthful.

"No." I gulp before swallowing down an entire piece and look away.

"You know he's probably at your door right now, waiting for you to come back right now, yeah?" She tells me something I've already thought of and desperately tried to convince myself he wouldn't do.

I ignore her question and swallow another sushi. Beatrice tilts her head, very interested. What I've learned in the past half hour on this boat together is that Beatrice is a hopeless romantic. And I've told her a couple stuff about me and Charles, not all, but she's very much rooting for us. Charsie, she named.

"What!?" She's very much invested.

I throw my head back in defeat.

"Wait. Does she know?" Cecilee now realizes.

"A couple things." I answer, my head back on the couch as I stare up at the sky, stars slowly appearing as the sun is basically gone now.

"Interesting." Cec nods, swallowing her food before turning her gaze to the French girl. "She definitely did not tell you how much he's obsessed with her though, right?"

Oh my God.

I'm so done. I grunt in pain but they completely ignore me.

Beatrice leans in, invested in this talk. "She didn't. But I did realize when I met him."

"Wait... You met him?" Cecilee does not know the whole story about how we met.

I lean back up to give the entire backstory quickly before any of them makes it into a much bigger deal, "She owns a flower shop down our street. Charles bought me flowers from her a month ago as a gift for my thirtieth race but anonymously. So I went down there and tried to find out who it was and that's how we met." I explain quickly.

They ignore me as they go back to entertaining each other. "How was he like?" Cecilee asks, referring to when he came to her shop.

"First," Beatrice starts and I know we're never going to change topic again. "how the hell is someone so hot?" She gasps.

"Right?" Cec agrees, tapping a hand on the table.

I raise my hand at them, still not looking though. "Leave my man alone." I dismiss.

"Jeez." Cec's eyes widen and Beatrice bites on her sushi to stay quiet.

Swallowing it, she continues. "Second, all hopes were gone the second he told me he needed help with — as he said himself 'get the prettiest flowers for the prettiest girl.'" Now they get my attention.
