ONESHOT | 31
The sun hung low in the afternoon sky as you walked across the university campus with your friends, the usual hum of student chatter filling the air. Midterms were coming up, but no one seemed particularly stressed today. Instead, the conversation had shifted to something far more interesting. "You know Sarah? The one in business school?" One of your friends, Lia, leaned in closer, lowering her voice. "Apparently, she got herself a sugar daddy. That's how she suddenly started flexing designer bags and flying out on weekends." she continued. "No way." You raised an eyebrow. "I thought she came from money." "She doesn't," another friend, Mina, chimed in, scrolling through her phone. "People pretend not to notice, but we all know. She was broke as hell last semester." You hummed in thought, slightly intrigued. You had noticed more and more girls showing up in designer outfits, wearing jewelry that sparkled a little too much for a normal student budget. Everyone acted oblivious, but the truth was easy to catch onto.
"Apparently, she used one of those sugar dating apps," Lia continued. "It's all the rage now. You just match with a rich guy, they take care of you, and boom—you're living soft." "Sounds like free money to me," Mina laughed. "If you're smart about it, you get what you want and dip before things get weird." You smirked at that. The idea was ridiculous, but... kind of interesting. Not that you were desperate for money, but the thought of being spoiled just for existing? It had a certain appeal. Lia suddenly turned to you with a playful glint in her eye. "You should try it." You blinked. "Me?" you pointed at yourself. "Yeah! Just for fun. You're hot, you could totally pull a billionaire," she teased. "It's not even that serious. You get the experience, take what you want, then leave. It's not like they actually care. They'll just find another girl after." Mina grinned. "Exactly. It's all a game." You rolled your eyes but found yourself considering it.
A sugar baby app? Just for fun? It wasn't like you planned to stick around the rich forever. If anything, you already knew how these things worked—at the end of the day, girls like you were never the final choice. Just temporary entertainment. Still... there was no harm in looking, right? "Fine," you said, grabbing Mina's phone as she squealed in excitement. "Show me the app." Little did you know, you were about to stumble upon something far more dangerous than just a sugar daddy arrangement.

Your apartment was quiet except for the soft tapping of your keyboard as you finished the last paragraph of your assignment. The warm glow of your desk lamp cast a cozy atmosphere over the room, and a cup of coffee sat half-forgotten beside you. Just as you were about to submit your work, a notification popped up on your phone. You absentmindedly reached for it, expecting another university email or a random group chat message. But instead, it was from the sugar dating app. Your eyebrows furrowed. You had almost forgotten about it. It had been a few days since Lia and Mina convinced you to sign up, and though you had scrolled through the profiles, you hadn't taken anything too seriously. Most of the men were older, typical businessmen flaunting their wealth in generic profile pictures. Curious, you unlocked your phone and opened the app.
