One Year Later.......
51. The Promises of Love
The soft dawn broke through the blinds, the warmth spreading through the room, casting a golden yellow hue. Wrapped in a duvet Haseena slept soundly, the sun rays coloring her face. Beyond the duvet, one hand sprawled over a pillow while the other stood protectively over her belly; her baby bump protruding out. Haseena neither stirred nor moved yet stood still, her dose of sleep still unclaimed.
In the kitchen, Anubhav scrambled to make breakfast, his legs carrying him in urgency almost making him topple to the floor. The kitchen was a mess, cups and pans stood unwashed in the sink stacked against one another, some even clattering to the floor. He ignored them, nonchalantly focusing on his work.
He hummed while working sipping the fresh coffee he brewed. He placed everything neatly atop a small table, placing a red rose in a corner. He stared at the spread in front of him, a smile spreading across his face.
It had been one year since he married Haseena. Their lives had been perfect together. Haseena was now 6 months pregnant. Anubhav leaned over the counter, his eyes grazing the rising sun as he wondered about the future. He had always dreamt of having a small daughter of his own, someone with whom he could laugh his heart and talk about life. He chuckled, his heart warming at the thought. A pang of melancholy hit hard across his chest, his memories rising to his mother and father. He recalled his childhood, how he had been the only child growing up. He awoke to the future carrying the tray to Haseena's bedroom while the back of his mind churned, what if it would be twins?
Anubhav opened the door slowly careful not to make any noise. He tiptoed to the bed, smiling as he saw Haseena's resting and silent face. He kept the tray aside, sitting down next to hr gently as he called out to her.
"Hasiii...." His voice was soft, a lullaby in the morning.
Haseena stirred, the sheets ruffling beneath her. She slowly opened her eyes, smiling at Anubhav. He helped her to straighten up with the help of the headstand as he placed the tray in front of her.
"Good morning Priye...." He said as he leaned forward to kiss her forehead.
"Good morning Anu...." She said, her eyes looking at the tray in front of her. "You did all this?" she asked.
"Haan why?"
Haseena bit her lip, struggling to control her laugh. "Anu...the last time you cooked you burned the whole house down. Remember?"
He shrugged casually as if he'd done nothing wrong this time around. "Haan....how can I forget? But people learn from their mistakes...." He said though his voice betrayed her.
Anubhav quickly lifted the spoon and fed her before she could ask any more questions. He raised his eyebrows, glancing at her impatiently as she chewed.
Haseena gestured for one more mouthful as Anubhav sighed, his heart needing comments. Haseena chewed silently enjoying anubhav's face as she smacked her lips in content, a smile on her face. She leaned forward and grabbed the coffee mug and took a large gulp as she turned to Anubhav.
"Aarey wah Anu...the food is really tasty...what did you put in it?"
He smiled, his face lighting up. "There's a secret ingredient" he said as he fed her another spoon.
"What?" she asked.
"If I told you it wouldn't be a secret would it?"
Haseena turned her face away, crossing her arms across her chest as Anubhav laughed. Just as he was about to feed her, they heard a voice and within minutes KS poked her head into the room. She rushed inside plopping onto the bed as he hugged Haseena carefully.
