The Promise of Forever

The Lucknow mall glinted in the afternoon sun with people hurrying in and out. Haseena and KS had taken SS for her wedding shopping as they strolled through each shop, choosing clothes and other accessories. They took their time, silently coursing through every shop, checking everything that the stores had to offer.

They had their lunch at a nearby restaurant before heading home carrying almost 10 bags altogether. Haseena's mother had invited KS, SS and Puspha Ji to their house until the wedding and had arranged extra rooms for SS's parents while Veyom and Anubhav invited CC to their house.

The girls headed to Haseena's room, keeping the bags on the bed. Haseena slumped down on a beanbag as KS plopped down on the bed with a heavy thud. SS laughed, doubling down as she saw her friends.

"Aarey yaar, how did you two become my seniors?" she asked, her innocent voice peeking through. "You got tired so easily?"

Haseena stared at her with a deadly glare that she immediately backed down. Surprisingly, KS hadn't uttered a word. SS slowly poked her neck and saw that she had already fallen asleep. They laughed as SS pulled a chair and settled in front of Haseena.

"Madam Sir...tell me about your love story too" she asked, edging closer to Haseena's face.

Haseena almost dropped her phone, blushing in embarrassment as she lowered her face.

"There's nothing to tell Santu...you all know my story" she said, casually shrugging her off.

"Haan but after everything..." she said, trailing off, her words hanging in the air.

Haseena leaned forward and held SS's hand, smiling deeply at her. "Santu....whatever happened, happened. I love him with my whole heart."

"Haan, I can see that" SS said pointing to Haseena's blushing face.

Haseena glared at her throwing a cushion at her face. SS huffed, the feathers of the cushion unsettling her. She threw it back to Haseena as they started a pillow war, throwing it back and forth.

The door opened and Haseena's mother stared at them fighting like two kids. A smile spread on her face unconsciously, her heart warming at the sight. She composed herself and picked up a stick, slowly walking towards them.

Haseena stopped mid-air, quickly throwing the pillow to the floor, her eyes widening in apprehension. SS straightened, smiling sheepishly at her as she gulped in fear.

"What are you two doing?" she asked, her expressions stern.

"N...nothing ammi..." Haseena fumbled. "We were just talking."

"I can very well see that you were only talking" she said mimicking Haseena.

"Ammi if you knew then why did you ask?" SS asked, in her innocence.

Haseena lips slightly parted amused and irked by SS's innocence. Ammi glared at them both, slightly holding the stick to Haseena's hand. It wasn't hard yet Haseena felt the sting. She rubbed her hand, glancing at her mother with a pout.

"There's a wedding happening in a few hours and you both are fighting like kids" she said as she turned around to see KS sleeping soundly. "And this maharani is sleeping soundly."

"Haseena stop everything and get ready for the wedding" she said as she walked outside, closing the door behind her.

SS quickly stood and held Haseena's hand, tears welling in her eyes. She glanced at the small red mark in her hand. SS held her ears with her hand while blowing air to ease the pain.
